Music For The Head's Journal (original) (raw)

I was shocked that the programming on DTV has changed to XM radio. However, I was pleasently surprised that one channel in particular fits my tastes like a glove:

XM: XM Music Lab, Channel 837

"Music Lab serves up an eclectic blend of progressive rock, jazz fusion and jam bands. You'll hear acts like Vida Blue, Galactic, Gomex, John Scofield, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Yes, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and the list goes on, including the entire library of Phish."

I ended up listening most of the night, and am now dead tired and ass dragging at work. they played Crimson several times, Floyd, Genesis, A few Porcupine Tree songs, Primus, A mellow Dream Theater song, the Ozric Tentacles, Spock's Beard, The Mars Volta, and surprise of surprise, a twisted mutation of the Simpsons theme by Birdsongs of the Messozoic!

Ironically, in spite of the description, I never heard Yes.

This is the BEST radio programming EVER! My only complaint is they play too much Phish, and jam band stuff... it's good, but not great like prog rock is IMO

If you have not yet checked it out, do so, it's kicks serious ass!
