more rebuilding (or lack there of) and eminent domain news!!! found these while looking at google news. all about New Orleans and recent developments:

Update 4: New Orleans Residents Show Anger at Forum
Angry residents expressed frustration Wednesday at the debut of rebuilding proposals for this devastated city, taking aim at a suggested four-month moratorium on new building permits in areas heavily flooded by Hurricane Katrina
http://www.forbes.com/business/energy/feeds/ap/2006/01/11/ap2444054.html

New Orleans plan angers residents
...They were upset by a recommended four-month moratorium on rebuilding homes in some affected districts...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4604204.stm

Hostility Greets Katrina Recovery Plan
NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 11 -- Angry homeowners screamed and City Council members seethed Wednesday as this city's recovery commission recommended imposing a four-month building moratorium on most of New Orleans and creating a powerful new authority that could use eminent domain to seize homes....
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/11/AR2006011102146.html

Doesn't the government realise that the people aren't happy with the plan? And the people are what comprise the city, put them in office, and who they are supposed to be representing the feelings and ideas of not their own!

edit anyone knwo how to contact the ACLU??? I think this is a matter they may be able to help with, hopefully. And if we all contacted them then they might realise that their help is wanted/needed.

Looking for the last New Orleans Bartenders Deana, bartender at the Abbey in New Orleans, is now here is Los Angeles.

I was going to make a site to help her make some type of dent in the loss that the evacuation has caused in her life, and to help her get settled in this over priced city. $2000 from FEMA doesn't even begin tocober the cost of Los Angeles rent, deposit, and utilities, nor does it last long when you are living out of a few bags and sofa surfing...

DEANA ASKEDTHAT I SET UP THIS SITE FOR OTHERS WHO WERE CURRENT BARTENDERS IN NEW ORLEANS...

The nameof the site is WWW.IGOTYOUDRUNK.COM . But it already has been planned and plotted and 100% of the donated money will go to the bartenders who have responded and been a part of this site...
please, if you were a bartender in New Orleans at the time of Katrina's evacuation...(WE WILL KNOW IF SOMEONE IS NOT AND JUST TRYING TO CASH IN, it's a tight knit town).

you may send your initial response to Me at losangelesdominatrix@yahoo.com
On this email tell us where you bartended when Katrina was hitting...where you are now,and I willfillyou inon the whole idea...it is a fun way for your friends, customers, and curious web tourists to help.
