Secret Machines | [29 Aug 2006|07:01pm] |
---|---|
Okay, I want to know if there are any Secret Machines fans here. I have been listening to them for a while now and I'm just continually amazed by them. I saw them in NY at the Hiro Ballroom in April. They were on a circular stage (or what they call "in the round") surrounded by the audience. It was unique- it felt like I was watching some of my friends play music (except awesome). And the crowd seemed friendlier than usual too. If I had to list the best modern bands these guys would have to be in the top ten. If there are any fans out there, then you've got to see them this fall, they are playing nothing but 'in the round' shows. I'm seeing them when they come to New York. If you don't know their music then you should definitely check them out. They have some songs up on Myspace. | |

Hi, I have a question.I'm going to be spinning at a movie premiere party, however I'm not really a DJ. I'm not even an actor, I'm just a wonderful person the director used for his movie.I know nothing about DJing or what have ... I sort of gave up on modern music because every band and artist sounds exactly the same today, Good - but the same, like a million awesome bands are actually one.Can you give me advice for spinning at this important party? Sincerely,James | |

Does anybody know of anything called "Earth" records (I would imagine) ... it was a late 1960s ... early 1970s record label that put out heavy metal / hard rock with Gospel vocals?I know that there was a band called Earth ... and they certainly kicked ass (from what I am told) ... how was there vocals?Am I just imaging this amazing record label?am I just getting it confused with the early 90's metal band?Help me PLEASE!!!! The Earlies @ The Echo tomorrow night! | [01 Dec 2005|05:49pm] | |
---|---|---|
The Earlies @ The Echo (1822 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, 90026)Residing in Northern England and Western Texas the four Earlies geographical differences and individual styles were brought together by a love of the three B’s, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, and The Beatles. All get a gracious nod on The Earlies debut album “These Were The Earlies” alongside more obscure Psychedelic, Progressive, Leftfield Pop and Country influences. With their current single “The Devil’s Country” they’re more genre defying than ever before. The Earlies | | ListenThe Idaho Falls | |

Tickets now on sale for Of Montreal in Los Angeles! | [18 Nov 2005|06:00pm] |
---|---|
Friday, January 27Of Montreal's members are interested in finding a different way to look at a pop song. In this case, the group takes a meek approach, sneaking up on the melody surreptitiously and capturing it unawares. The instrumentation is equally low-key, using just guitar/bass/drums and mild, double-tracked vocals. Of Montreal is clearly influenced by `60s songsmiths such as the Byrds or even the Mamas And The Papas; the group's songs are all sweet pop ditties, as suitable for campfire-singing as stage performance. The songs also conjure up an innocence lacking in a lot of current music.Of Montreal | | ListenBuy tickets. |

Petition to reissue early Gorky's Zygotic Mynci albums | [28 Jul 2005|10:59pm] |
---|---|
I would greatly appreciate if people here took the short amount of time to read and sign this petitionI created it for the attention of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's label, Sanctuary, requesting that they resurrect a project they ditched last year to reissue the long out-of-print albums 'Patio' (1993), 'Tatay' (1994) and 'Bwyd Time' (1995), in a remastered format. Since it is my belief that these albums represent the pinnacle of the musical art form, pretty much (especially the latter two), I felt it was only proper to show that some people aren't too amused at this turn of events. If you wish to sign it, I would be eternally grateful! For more information, try: http://www.gorkys.com/, and you can find biographical information and mp3s here: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/gorkyszygoticmynci.html.(It's not the most content-filled site on the world, but it does have some great stuff on the band's early years. I would be happy to provide some more material/information if you need convincing. :)) | |

[ mood | Superfantasticplasticyeahyeah ] Saw Of Montreal in Chattanooga last night; twas awesome, was anyone else there? Grand gaiety was enjoyed much on my part, twas an affirming sensation as yet I have not felt, to be part of something, yes?I must admit I was a bit saddened at the lack of Lysergic Bliss being played, as I had an intricate dance for it mapped out in my head/heart. No matter; it was still enjoyable. I had a grand time, and I would recommend everyone see them live.Don't hesitat to add me or start randomly talking to me out of the blue/obsessing with me. | |
