UPDATE: Because of forecasted inclement weather, the Memorial Day Ceremony will be inside the Longview Fire Training Center at 411 American Legion Blvd.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The city of Longview and the Parks and Recreation Department invite the community to the annual Memorial Day ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Teague Park Veterans Memorial, 411 American Legion Blvd.
Master of ceremonies is Joshua Gibbons, while a keynote reflection by Gregg County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Craig Harrington will offer remarks honoring the nation’s fallen service members.
Local Scouts will place a ceremonial wreath at the Vietnam Memorial, and a firing team’s tribute will be performed by the American Legion East Texas Honor Guard, followed by the sounding of TAPS by the Longview Police Department Honor Guard.
The National Anthem will be performed by Kim Donnette, with a rendition of “Amazing Grace” by Alicia Johnson.
