Header design contest, Free vgifts for paid users
Header design contest
We wish to thank all of the talented LiveJournal users who submitted headers to remixed for this month's design contest. We narrowed the submissions to 15 finalists (based on staff voting). We hope you'll help us decide which header you'd like to see on the top of LiveJournal. This poll will remain open until Tuesday, September 21st, at 4PM, PDT. We'll begin accepting submissions for the next contest as soon as we announce a winner. FYI: If you miss a deadline, we'll automatically enter you in the next contest. All participants receive LJ Tokens: 2,500 for the winner, 1,000 for finalists; and 500 for all other contestants (only one award per user). We thank you, again, for making LiveJournal your canvas. |

Did you know ...?
We're delighted to spotlight another LiveJournal feature that you didn't discover immediately and you can't live without. This week we're talking about Custom Friends Groups. This feature allows you to create subsets of your friends to share specific posts. If you post an entry or comment to a Custom Friends Group, only members of that group will be able to see it. You can create a Custom Friends Group by following these simple steps (described more fully in this FAQ):
- Visit the Manage Custom Friends Group page
- Click the 'New' button under the box on the left, labeled 'Your custom friends groups'
- Choose a name for your Custom Friends Group (e.g., Big_Bang_Theory_fanfic); Please note that there is a 40 character limit
- Select the friends you wish to add to your Custom Friends Group from the box labeled 'Not in group' and use the [>>] button to move them to the 'In group' box
- When you're finished moving friends around, be sure to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page
- Now, whenever you post an entry, you can choose a custom security level and select a Custom Friends Group, and only those friends in your custom group will be able to see it
- You can also create a custom reading filter, by clicking Filter Friends and choosing your Custom Friends Group from the group list
Are there any other ways you use Custom Friends Groups that we haven't mentioned? Tell us in comments. We'll be back next week with another fun tip!
Free lunch for our paid users!
If you have a paid or permanent account, you can send five free lunchboxes now through Monday, September 20th, at 4pm, PDT! You'll see both the free and the $0.99 lunchboxes displayed until you've shared them with your friends. Please send only one at a time. In other words, you'll need to complete check-out and start a new order for each lunchbox you send. If you're not receiving vgifts (from friends and/or Frank), you may have disabled them. To enable vgifts, visit Edit profile (under Profile), scroll down to the bottom of the page, and check your settings. On behalf of Frank, we bid you bon appetit! |

Another round of praise for carduustristus, who won our last themed contest with this photo and selected our next topic: Delicious. FYI: We pick entries for the polls based on a combination of comments, +1 ratings, and staff input. Winners of both polls receive 500 LJ tokens. We thank you for sharing your talent with the global LiveJournal community.
Frank & Meme's Excellent Adventure
We've got more mystery and mayhem in the Frank and Meme saga. Please use +1 ratings and comments to let us know which of these entries should be the next official chapter. Frank will deliver a pair of gently-used reading spectacles to everyone who comments at frankandmeme. We'll be sending LJ Tokens to our wonderful authors next week.Spy Games A Delayed Introduction Frank and Meme's Excellent Adventure |
