Big Ten's top returning scorer and rebounder opens senior season Nov. 5
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Penn State men’s basketball senior forward Lamar Stevens, the Big Ten Conference’s top returning scorer and rebounder, was named to the 2019-20 preseason All-Big Ten Team.
The team was selected by a panel of conference media members and announced by the conference office on Oct. 2.
As a junior in 2018-19, Stevens averaged 19.9 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per contest en route to earning All-Big Ten Conference first-team accolades from the league’s media and second-team honors from the league’s coaches. He was one of only three conference players to rank in the top 10 in both scoring (No. 2) and rebounding (No. 7).
Stevens returns to Penn State for his final season as one of only six Nittany Lions with 1,500 career points and more than 600 rebounds. The North Wales, Pennsylvania, native stands fifth on Penn State’s all-time scoring list with 1,660 career points in three seasons, while starting in all 104 games in his career, the longest starting streak in the nation.
In addition to his All-Big Ten recognition, Stevens was named to the Associated Press All-Big Ten second team and recognized as an All-District VII second-team member by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
