MANILA, Philippines — The country will continue to experience cloudy skies and rain showers on Friday as a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies prevail over parts of the Philippines, the state weather bureau said.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last spotted 940 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, while easterlies continue to affect Luzon and Visayas.
Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said the weather disturbance remains unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.

“Although its trough or extension will continue to bring rains over large parts of the country today and in the coming days,” de la Cruz-Galicia, speaking Filipino, added in Pagasa’s latest weather briefing.

Because of the LPA, Caraga and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring hot and humid weather across the country.
“We can still expect hot and humid weather over large parts of the country… We are not removing the possibility of likely thunderstorms or isolated downpours in the afternoon and evening,” de la Cruz-Galicia said.

Due to the easterlies, Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Visayas see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Moreover, the rest of Mindanao may also experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. /jpv
