About us
The American Football Association of Nigeria which operates officially as the Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA) was established with the vision of creating increased opportunities for the African continent through American Football. We will be the first organization with clear intent to integrates Nigeria and in the future Africa with The National Football League (NFL) in America. MAIN OBJECTIVES – “The HUDDLE Way” – Transforming lives through the game of American Football. H - Health U - Unity D - Diversity D - Development L - Livelihood E – Entertainment 1. Promote contact and non-contact American Football competitions; 2. Develop, manage and grow the American Football League and brand within Africa, for international competition (2 years plan); 3. Develop, manage and grow the American Football League and brand for international competition (5 years plan); 4. Develop, manage and grow the American Football League in Nigeria; 5. Provide opportunities for engagement and development to people of all ages, background and abilities within American Football; 6. The regulation of the game on and off the field of play through oversight of its rules; 7. The representation of the Nigerian game to national and international partners, be they sporting organizations, federations or commercial interests.

As part of our NFL global marketing affiliation in Nigeria, we are excited to announce our partnership with the Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA). This collaboration will facilitate growth of the game across the country and support our youth football efforts by assisting with resources for in-person programs to enhance accessibility and impact. 📰» https://brow.nz/1e81 - On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Lagos State’s male and female teams triumphed over their Akwa Ibom State counterparts in both categories to claim victory in the National Flag Football Tournament held at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar. In the female category, Akwa Ibom overcame FCT to secure a spot in the final, while Lagos defeated Team Kwara to claim the other. For the male category, Akwa Ibom defeated Oyo, and Lagos outperformed Cross River to advance to the final stage. In the finals, Lagos emerged victorious in both the male and female matches against Akwa Ibom. The Akwa Ibom girls suffered a narrow 14–12 loss, while their male counterparts, the defending champions, relinquished the title with a 22–12 defeat. Dignitaries present at the finals included Cross River State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, and Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, represented by Rt. Hon. Ekaette Ebong. Also in attendance were Cross River State Commissioner for Sport Development Mrs. Agnes Atsu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sport Development Comr. Samuel Ekpala, and Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Special Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba. The National Finals of the Nigerian Secondary School Flag Football League (NSSFFL) were part of the Season 3 Akweti Bowl II American Football Tournament, officially launched by the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey. NAFA President Mr. Babajide Akeredolu shared his vision for American football during the event and announced rewards for the winners. Lagos State awarded N1 million each to their male and female teams. The first runners-up, Akwa Ibom, received N750,000 for both teams, while Cross River earned N300,000 as the male second runners-up, and FCT received N300,000 for third place in the female category. Additionally, Professor Chris Imumolen awarded N20 million scholarships to both the male and female teams from Lagos State. #AketiBowl #NAFA @brownsnigeria

- PRESS RELEASE: LAGOS, NIGERIA- June 15, 2024 -The Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA) is thrilled to announce major advancements in promoting and developing American football across Nigeria, in partnership with the National Football League's NFL Africa initiative. This collaborative effort has launched a camp for the program, which kicked off on June 14th. NAFA successfully completed an extensive scouting mission across seven states-Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Cross River, Rivers, Delta-and the Federal Capital Territory. This effort was in preparation for the NFL Combine scheduled for June 17th. This initiative is crucial for enrolling young athletes into the NFL Academy as part of the International Player Pathway (IPP). ushering in a new era of professional players.
