[#Reverb10] December 11 – 11 Things
What are 11 things your life doesn’t need in 2011? How will you go about eliminating them? How will getting rid of these 11 things change your life? (Author: Sam Davidson)
I don't need
the 20kg of excess weight I have cultated in the last 18 months - will eliminate by sensible eating & more gym - getting rid of it will improve my heath (also see 8)
to keep breaking up my viola rosin - will eliminate by paying a bit more attention to where it is - getting rid of this will save me money & the hassle of keep replacing it
a long commute from SE12 to Windsor to work - will eliminate by no longer working there - getting rid of it will save me fuel, allow me to sleep normal hour, and give me quality time with Maya instead of her being stuck in a car for hours.
so many books - will eliminate by getting rid of those I know I won't read again / did not enjoy - getting rid of them will allow me to keep a tidier house
the "in tray" in my kitchen - will eliminate with a cold turkey approach - getting rid of it will contribute to a tidier house.
debt - will eliminate by paying off all (except my mortagage) by September - getting rid of it will allow me to take a paydrop and move jobs to get a better work - life balance
high-maintenance friends - will eliminate by not letting them be a drain - getting rid of them (or rather their maintenance requirements) will reduce my stress levels.
poor health - will eliminate by 1) - 7) as well as removing other things contributing to my stress levels and mental / physical emotional exhaustion - getting rid of this will allow me to enjoy life more
my current wardrobe - will eliminate by chucking the lot into a black bag - getting rid of it will force me to replace them with some new & smarter clothes.
online procrastination - will eliminate by shutting the PC off earlier - getting rid of it will give me back some valuable down-time which I am desperate for as I am so time-poor
scatter-gun shopping - will eliminate by going back to meal planning and monthly home-delivery - getting rid of it will save me money and get me back into the habit of cooking proper meals at home again.

Me too, and it's not that I want to get rid of (i'm too attached for them, and they are instant memory jogs as to places & times when I obtained them) but the selves of books I have read & not particularly enjoyed & therefore unlikely to read again. The shelves in my bedroom would look neater without them (more room for the books I love) and I would stop feeling like I am always "in the process" of sorting the room out rather than actually settled for once!
