The medium was made to be logical and cognitive. In this regard the advantages of Analytical Hierarchy Process and Group Method of Data Handling was applied. The results from the performance metrics and sensitivity analysis confirms about the reliability of the model which were selected from 28 different configurations developed to predict the same output. The climatic impact on six different hydropower plants were also analyzed with the help of the indicator. It was found that power plants in Australia was the most and the plant in Ghana was the least vulnerable to climate change.

The ever-growing demand for luxury has increased the stress on conventional energy sources and en... more The ever-growing demand for luxury has increased the stress on conventional energy sources and encourages scientists and engineers to look for alternatives. Hydropower is by far the most inexpensive but reliable source of energy which is deemed to have the capacity to substitute for conventional energy sources. The worldwide contribution of hydropower plants (HPP) in supplying the demand for electricity is 1106 TWh. The problem with hydropower lies with the fact that its efficiency depends on multiple factors which are a function of climatic, hydraulic and socio-economic parameters. All these parameters again depend upon hydraulic loss imposed due to time in use, change in energy requirements, locational interference and quality of the machine installed. As there are multiple parameters having different levels of influence on the performance efficiency of HPP. Thus some factors are overrated and some others remain under rated which results in erroneous decision-making. The present study proposes a new hybrid model based on Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) with Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The priorities are determined by hybrid method namely DEMATEL- TOPSIS. According to the results, efficiency of generator is most significant for efficiency of HPP

In the eastern Himalaya a number of small and medium wetland site occur in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur. The lower foothills and duras area of the eastern Himalaya abound numerous beels and shaurs (shallow marshes with tall weed vegetation). Some aspects of the problems are faced by the wetlands of the hilly areas of North East. In West Bengal tourism map Mirik Lake has been included as a unique wetland having wide biodiversity and natural aesthetic beauty. Characteristically, Mirik Lake is a manmade wetland situated in valley in circle by hill ridges with extensive natural drainage network. Unfortunately, Mirik Lake is subjected to manmade pollution resulting in deterioration in water quality. In recent years efforts have been taken for abatement of pollution of the lake through diversion and treatment of sewage/sullage. Proper attention need to be paid by the concern authority for the conservation of the Mirik Lake. People should be aware and motivated so as to participate in the Mirik Lake conservation programme. The present paper examines the main sources of the threat and goes through the appropriate management strategy to mitigate this problem. Here Hydrologic Modelling System was used to estimate the present and future water availability of Mirik Lake by keeping all hydrological-related parameters. Water quality status of both present and future contexts was analysed and performed using artificial neural network.

According to the recent studies, alterations in climatic pattern have an effect on the concentration of different water quality parameters (WQP) and change in water quality may badly affect the efficiency of WTP also. This model first applies DEMATEL to find the weightage of the criteria and then NSFDSS is utilized to prioritize WQP based on its vulnerability towards climate change. The present study tried to find the weightage of the parameters of water treatment plant by using a hybrid MCDM model. According to the result, Efficiency of Clarifloccculator is found to be the most significant parameter in regulating the performance of Water Treatment Plants. The new hybrid model can be applied to evaluate the performance of a densely populated urban surface water treatment plant.

The variables such as operating pressure, pore size, and feed velocity were selected as input parameters, and permeate flux as model output. The uncertainty analysis evaluates the acceptability of the model, and it was found that values of Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), the ratio of the root mean squared error to the standard deviation (RSR), percent bias (PBIAS) were close to the best value which shows the model acceptability. The effect of input parameters on model output is calibrated using sensitivity analysis. It shows that pore size is the most sensitive parameter followed by feed velocity. The optimum values of pore size, operating pressure, and feed velocity were calibrated and found to be 2.21µm, 1.31×10-03KPa, and 0.37m/sec, respectively. The errors in GMDH model were compared with multi linear regression (MLR) model. It shows that GMDH pred...

However, reliability of the plant varies with time due to irregularity in flow pattern of the river which depends on the pattern of climatic parameters like precipitation and evapo-transpiration. The reliability of the plant performance also varies with the efficiency of the power equipment and conveyance coefficient of penstock, both of which are time dependent. When reliability reduces, performance efficiency also gets degraded. That is why, monitoring of reliability in hydro power plants is essential and required to be conducted periodically. But at present, such activities are expensive due to the requirement of extensive surveys, data collection and performance audits of the equipment and structures involved in the power production. There is a lack of single indicator based real time monitoring processes which can be utilized to continuously regulate the reliability of the power plant. Such system can reduce both cost and time required for conducting reliability assessment procedures. That is why, in the present study, an objective and cognitive technique was utilized to develop a single index for real time monitoring of the reliability of a power plant. The results indicate that efficiency of generator, levelized cost of electricity and rate of selling per unit electricity are the most significant indicator which have the capability to represent reliability. A model developed for the present study by Polynomial Neural Network also ensures that regular monitoring of reliability of an HPP is possible.
