In this work we have streamlined our efforts towards obtaining a solution for long-term heart rate monitoring system that can be used at home as well as medical establishments. We have made a comparative study here of the microfibers of the materials poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and lead zirconate titanate (PZT) with the help of COMSOL to understand the suitability of these materials in capturing pulse signals. PZT shows higher electric potential of 21.8 V compared to PVDF which shows 11.6 V for a single microfiber. Therefore here we use a PZT disc sensor in conjunction with Arduino UNO and Arduino IDE to detect the pulse signal and count them. The main objective of this paper is to provide a simple and non-invasive device which while eliminating human errors also allows remote monitoring of patients and at the same time reduces the average time required by the doctor to an...

For synthesizing UESTMA, two design parameters, specifically, the non-linear parameter – element position, and the linear parameter – on-time durations are optimized in two steps. Different possible cases of linear and non-linear synthesis methods such as, positiononly (PO), on-time only (OTO), position then on-time (PTOT), on-time then position (OTTP), and simultaneous position on-time (SPOT) are considered. To examine the performance of the synthesis methods, three global search stochastic algorithms based on differential evolution (DE), teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO) and quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) have been employed to achieve the array pattern with significantly suppressed side lobe levels and sideband levels. Through comparative study, it is observed that the two step nonlin...

LMS is a gradient based approach, incorporates an iterative method which makes successive corrections to the weight vector to minimize the MSE. RLS algorithm is used to measure the complex weights by its own optimization thus there is no need to invert a large correlation matrix. SMI is defined as a time average estimate for the array correlation matrix using k th

Adaptive/Smart antenna arrays allowed an antenna to steer the beam to any direction of interest (... more Adaptive/Smart antenna arrays allowed an antenna to steer the beam to any direction of interest (DOI) while simultaneously nulling interfering signals. In this paper an approach based on Least Mean Square (LMS) is incorporated to minimize the SLL and MSE of adaptive antenna arrays by varying the interelement spacing in between 0.5λ to 1.0λ with DAOA~10 deg. and IAOA~70 deg. LMS is a one of the most efficient gradient based approach of steepest decent that makes correction to the weight vector to minimize the MSE. After comparing with previous results of uniformly spaced elements with our proposed approach, superiority of our proposed approach is established.

The LMS is a gradient based approach. LMS algorithm uses the estimates of gradient vector from the given data. LMS incorporates an iterative procedure that makes successive corrections to the weight vector in the negative direction of the gradient vector which eventually leads to the minimum MSE. RLS algorithm used to compute the complex weights by its own simulation and also there is no longer necessary to invert a large correlation matrix. The recursive equations allow for easy updates of the inverse correlation matrix. These algorithms have been simulated using MATLAB 7.0.1 (R14) version software in Windows 7 environment. The simulation result shows the better adaptive algorithm through which we can obtain the optimum solution faster for smart antenna array system
