A question and I need some help	[28 Nov 2004\|02:35pm]
I need some help. I have been wanting to do barrel racing all my life. But I never could due to money. I think my cousins might help me, but I am not sure My one cousin while at her house for Thanksgiving she brought out the two mares and she showed us how when they get time to work with the foals to lead on a lead rope. I am learning from her of different topics. I am on different forms asking on help on how to get started. I don’t have enough money, and still haven’t found an job after looking for a year and half. This is a another reason I have not been able to go to a 4 year college not enough money.I have the place to put a horse on the side lot, because there is enough room, and I can walk to the arena everyday since I live right next to it. I feel if I can start learning now and have this horse for when we move to a cattle ranch I will know the horse better and I will be getting out more. I want to even maybe if I can get good enough join up with Eastern New Mexico Rodeo Team, but for starters maybe for a year deal with NBHA. I wonder if any are on College rodeo team and if you were able to get scholarships? I keep on applying for scholarships and I am not lucky enough. I know I don’t want to burn the horse out on just doing barrel racing, I plan on teaching other stuff. I feel if I am able to do this It will help me to lose weight, (I have hypothyroidism and it is very hard to lose weight) and it can get me out more to meet people. I am not comfortable around people. I know I need the money and know all the cost but I feel if I don’t ever get to do this dream I will just regret it for the rest of my life. All of my dreams have never gotten to be fulfilled, and had to be thrown away. So here are the questions:How did you bet started I BR or what sport you are inWhere did you get your horseHow did you train the horseWere you able to get on a college rodeo team or are you planning on it.What type of trailer do you use example Living Quarters, or non. I have always wanted to do barrel racing, but like it has been my all of my life is no money no anything. I live in the Lea County area. I have babysat kids, and horses, goats, sheep, rabbits. My own cousins that live in the same town wont even let me ride their own horse… What fun. My dads big plan is to move to Oklahoma on an cattle ranch. I just cant wait, but I love New Mexico so much… I hope you all will accept me.

[ mood \| cheerful ] i just got back from new mexico not long ago. spent the night in gallop coming from california. then stayed at my grandparents in espanola then went to my cousins in questa and costilla. i got to see my cousins new horse. one of the most beautiful animals i have ever seen. im sure he cost a mint though. anyone go to the red river rodeo dance last sat night? both my cousins went, i had to leave town friday for dallas so i didnt get the chance. i dont know when i will be able to get back to n.m. but hopefully it will be soon.

bored ] Love your site. Guess I'd best introduce myself. Name's janice. Am O-L-Der than dirt. I live 2 hours east of Abilene and 2 hours west of Ft Worth. Have three horses. Two AQHA and one mini/P.O.A. cross. Barrel race, pole bend, etc...(in my geriatric age group). Profession: Registered Nurse in Emergency Dept. Twisted sense of humor mostly b/c of what I do for a living...but probably really from just flat being twisted period! Not a member of the rainbow coalition but know paramedics that are. Lived a LOT of life but MAN! Nothing compares to the horse life! That's me. Happy Easter All!

[ mood \| thirsty ] Hey, I just joined. Whereabouts in New Mexico does all of you live? I live in the Rio Rancho area near ABQ. I ride only western but I'm going to try english soon. I've had some experience riding the barrels and pole bending but mostly I just ride pleasure at the moment. I'm going to start taking lessons again. YAY!!!!!!!!!! I actually don't have a horse of my own... grrrrrr... I want one. I ride my friend's horse. His name is Blue. He's a cremello gelding... I think he's about 10 years old. He's a cutie...
