This view, as Said explains arises out of an audacious attempt by the west to divide the world into an Occident upholding all the attributes of order, power, sanity, masculinity, rationalism, etc. and an Orient representing disorder, powerlessness, insanity, femininity, barbaric, despotic, etc. While Orientalism generated academic interest, it also generated vehement criticism which problematized the theory, among them the most vicious criticism came from Aijaz Ahmed. Ahmed categorically attacked Said, for dubbing Marx as an Orientalist and similar polemical writings. The ensuing personal attacks resulted in added proliferation to the debate on Orientalism. This research paper attempts to revisit some criticism by Ahmed selectively and relook Orientalism in a new light. Ahmed first problematized the methodological approach in Orientalism for criticising the west by relying too much on western epistemology and the very traditions which had the virtues of tolerance, universality, non-racialistic pluralism, liberalism, humanism, sympathetic participation in the emotional experience of the Other, etc. (Between Orientalism and Historicism Ahmed pg 286) Ahmed conveniently forgets that these rational doctrines, the bedrock of western epistemology was unavailable to the colonised and it was relatively absent as critical tool of assessment for the Oriental in his theory and praxis on the non-western world. Kamala Das and Imtiaz Dharker represent that part of the feminine sensibility, through their poetry, which arouses a peculiar kind of curiosity and self identification among the readers. The mystical flavour of feminine issues, that they lay bare, as well as the identities they portray brings out the complexities of being a woman. Although their works depict the predicament of the self, they also problematize the world of men and their polarized narratives. The poetic expression of fantasia by men and women are radically different; which is stylistically and thematically dissimilar because of their biological and sociological difference in the society. The male fantasia in poetry indulges in various stylistic features and shared thematic domains concerning the world of men, while female fantasia in poetry revolves around the myriad thematic articulations concerning the domestic life, societal interactions and the self of a woman. But what needs mention as a footnote, is with a very few number of published poetries by women poets, which are positively reviewed and filtered by editors (mostly male critics) coupled with the individual oeuvre of every women poet; research in this dimension becomes increasingly complex. The concept of 'fantasia' in this research, means a genre of literature -verse, which is not in a particular form, but articulated according to the unrestricted feelings of fancy by the poet, incorporating several themes, familiar or unfamiliar in nature. The modern and post modern reflection of fantasia, are coloured and opinionated on the equation between the self and the

It is also necessary to understand that the mainstream literature which caters to a sophisticated set of readers or perception has repeatedly shown its reluctance to publish the pain and the anguish of Dalit literature. Hence every Dalit writer aims to carve a space or voice for himself / herself out of the mainstream literature in order to bring to light the injustice meted on to his community. This inevitably creates a subculture within the mainstream literature, a kind of an aperture for all the repressed Dalit sentiments which were shrugged off by the insensitive society. But the power of literature is immense as it allows the existence and proliferation of dissenting voices to construct a parallel world for self-realisation and problematizes the dominant world view. Poets have constantly tried to publish their voices through literature and Namdeo Dhasal does it by impressively expressing himself in a unique way. Namdeo Dhasal through his poetry projects the kinds of complicity, acquiescence and indifference shown by various quarters of society against the marginalized. His poetic collection ‘Poet of the Underworld’ (2007) consists of poems like Golpitha (1972), Moorkha Mahataryane Dongar Halavile (The Stupid Old Man Moved Mountains, 1975), Tuhi Yatta Kanchi (What’s Your Grade, 1981), Khel (Play, 1983), Gandu Bagicha (Arsefuckers Park, 1986), Ya Sattet Jeev Ramat Nahi (The Soul Doesn’t Find Peace in this Regime, 1995), Mee Marale Sooryachya Rathache Ghode Saat (I Slew the Seven Horses of the Chariot of the Sun, 2005) and Tujhe Bot Dharoon Chalalo Ahe Mee (Holding Your Finger, I Walk On, 2006). The paper attempts to probe the various thematic implications and metaphorical expressions of marginality in Namdeo Dhasal’s poetic collection ‘Poet of the Underworld’.
