The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane - Intern & Apprentice Applications
SFT is now accepting applications for its summer training programs.
The Intern Training Program offers actors and theatre artists (ages 15 and older) with some stage experience the opportunity to immerse themselves in a summer of professional theatrical production. The program, which runs June 7 - August 10, culminates in a production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Gary Rucker. Training experience received from the Intern Program contributes to a strong foundation, needed to enter the world of professional theatre. Previous members have frequently gone on to perform in our mainstage shows.
The Apprentice Training Program offers aspiring younger actors (ages 12 - 14) the opportunity to participate in a brief training session within a professional theatre environment. The class will focus on tools for acting Shakespeare, and culminates in a scene showcase on the last day. The three day workshop is from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on June 11, 18 and 25. Participation in the Apprentice Program is a wonderful way to prepare for later involvement in the Intern Program.
For more information on either program, contact me by e-mail at brad@tulane.edu or by phone at 504.865.5105 ext 7. You can also download an application form by going to our website at www.NewOrleansShakespeare.com, and then clicking on the Education link.
(I personally spent three summers doing the internship with the Shakespeare Festival and had some of the best experiences of my life doing so. So I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who might be interested.)
