At the same time, most international organizations, especially the United Nations development fund for women, have emphasized the empowerment of women, alongside gender mainstreaming in developmental initiatives (World Conferences on Women). The international organizations have focused on the integration of women as a means to increase gender equality in development projects, but have experienced several challenges (Tinker, 2002). The escalations of feminism through debates, protests, intellectual pursuits, and contributions to revolutions, have paved the way for the integration of women in development thinking (Epstein, 2001).

The issue of war and peace, justice and good governing for Iraqi people has always been a focal i... more The issue of war and peace, justice and good governing for Iraqi people has always been a focal issue in all periods of history and at all levels of relations among the ethnic groups in the country. In the last four decades, Iraq has been consistently at war with its neighboring country, for example, Iran and Kuwait, and within, preventing the development of justice and peace. Nevertheless, despite the cross border wars and dictatorial regime, Iraq had very strong governing institutions until 2003.
Since 2003, sustaining peace and stable governance has been a major challenge for the Iraqi people. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the international community and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) made countless efforts to support the Iraqi government in building strong and accountable institutions. The purpose of which, was to lead the unprecedented challenge of peace and reconciliation between the three main ethnic groups; Arab Sunni, Arab Shia, and Kurds, there are still a chance for peace and good governing if Iraq willing to learn from the past
