the few, the proud (original) (raw)
Stephanie's post was a little brief, so I thought I'd add a few things.
First of all, Pep band was a blast!!! Not as much fun as some of the games last year, but I think that was mainly because it was less exciting. And we're not used to actually winning.
We met at 5:45 in the band room and got two new songs: Super Mario Bros. and Soul Bossa Nova (the Austin Powers song). Sadly, we didn't get to play them during the game because we didn't get enough copies. Oh well!
We had a tremendous turnout; I counted, and there were about thirty-five people there! Dean and Gina led things, mostly. We only played "Go Orange," "Eat 'Em Up," and the fight song, but it was fun. Oh, and we played "Back in Black" once. A few measures of it. We just need to work out a better deal with the cheerleaders, really.
Let's see...the game was at John Glenn, and we didn't think much of their band. They were okay about marching in step, but we couldn't hear the music and they were too small! Plus, they had as many flag corps members as regular ones (almost).
We won, 31-13! (No, not 31- (thirteen factorial). We wouldn't have won with that score!)
Afterwards, we made the usual trip to Big Boy. We saw a lot of people there: people from school who went to the game, football players, Novi varsity basketball players...
We had some good rounds of milkshake, pie, fries, and the like, and we all left at about eleven. I hope to see you all at pep band on the seventeenth at Franklin! Not to mention our home game next week against Plymouth; who knows, we might win our first game ever...well, in three years, anyway. Anyone younger than class of '05 hasn't even been to a winning home game yet. Will that change? The drama, the suspense...be there or be a parallelogram with four right angles and four congruent sides.
