Every Mother Counts The film No Woman, No Cry which was directed by Christy Turlington Burns. The film shines light on the fact t hat due to substandard maternal healthcare worldwide, "more than 500,000 women die each year during childbirth—and that 90 percent of these deaths are preventable." Victim blaming Yesterday I read this article and a few others supporting it (google the keywords akon 14 year old girl for more articles). I immediately put Akon on our household ban list, which is a short list added to on a case by case basis.I was shocked by the articles, but outright enraged by a lot of the comments people have left to them! Things like If she hadn't snuck in... But look at how she was dressed... Where were the parents... She shouldn't have done it if she didn't want to... and my personal favorite He didn't know her age so it's not his fault... I talked to my ex husband about it- or rather he talked to me about it- and he reiterated every one of the above comments. (Can we say rapist mentality?) And then accused me of being like Tipper Gore and the PMRC by censoring what my children can listen to. Hello? They're 6, 8, and 12! Of course I'm going to tell them what they can and can't listen to. That's my job as the parent. But I digress.The reason I placed Akon on the ban list is because of his behavior with this child. I feel that if I allow my children to listen to him it's the same as saying his behavior is OK as long as he writes good songs that will get played on the radio. drunk sex Welcome to the community! This is my first community ever, so I'm probably gonna suck at modding it! I'm just going to go with the flow and make changes as I see fit. If you have any suggestions, comments, or concerns, please leave a comment here or email me at ladyfaith@gmail.com Thanks!Let's discuss drunk sex and responsibilities. Personally, I think that guidelines should be set by all parties, while sober, to make sure that nobody goes down a path they don't want to. But I'll likely never have drunk sex, as the idea of being drunk scares me and I'm not supposed to drink much alcohol while on my various medications, so I haven't really thought about this topic much.
