The study investigated Parents’ perception towards the introduction of sex education in junior se... more The study investigated Parents’ perception towards the introduction of sex education in junior secondary schools in Aba urban area of Abia state, Nigeria. The population of the study was parents of junior secondary school students.
A sample of 400 parents was randomly selected for the study. The instrument used for the study was a questionnaire which was validated by experts with a reliability coefficient of 0.76.Data collected were analysed using frequency counts and percentages. The result showed that most of the Parents wanted sexuality education to be taught at all levels in secondary schools. They perceived that sexuality education will expose children to experimentation with sex but will also reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy and abortion.
A higher percentage of the respondents wanted areas of sexual development and reproduction, delayed sexual activity and abstinence.
Based on the findings, it was recommended that parents should receive orientation on the issues to be included in the curriculum.

In Nigeria therefore it has largely remained a scenario of affluence and affliction as the country have remain underdeveloped due to series of bombings and killings, kidnapping and armed robbery attacks, political and economic related assassinations which has become a multi hydra headed monster and it seems as if all hope of handling these issues by the security agents is lost ax they appear incapable of tackling the matter. This rising wave of insecurity has not abated but has assumed a dangerous dimension which is threatening the corporate existence of the country and its national development.
This paper examines the pertinent psychological issues of insecurity in Nigeria and its implications for the national development. Available data on the level and dimension of insecurity in Nigeria reveals an increase over time and this constitutes serious treat to lives and properties, hinders business activities and discourages local and international investment. In the light of the above, this paper recommends the government must be proactive in dealing with security issues and threats, through modern methods on intelligence gathering and sharing among security personnel, training, logistics, motivation and deploying advanced technology in managing security challenges.
