In addition, a lot of time is wasted while people have to wait for resumption of normal operation of these level crossing gates. In this paper an automated system for these railway level crossings has been developed. It is a microcontroller-based research and employs electronic sensors, which sense the arrival or the departure of train, and then the gates are operated respectively. Before the operation of gates, people around the scene are alarmed regarding the motion of train via traffic signal, an alarm and a LCD screen. In this way, relatively less time is consumed in the operation of gates and the chances of mishaps due to error of gatekeeper are omitted. It is cheaper in cost and user friendly compared to manual system. Due to the advantages stated earlier, it can be deployed anywhere around the world easily.
