Wow, it's been over 2 years since anyone has posted on here...
This is probably a long shot, but... I heard a rumor that after Vampire Diaries The Return: Midnight L.J. Smith will not be writing any more books in the series because the publishers "fired" her. Instead The Vampire Diaries The Hunters: Phantom and the rest of the series will be written by a ghostwriter. The only thing related to this that I can find is this post on Smith's website. Can anyone verify it?

windiain: Vampire Diaries TV series
*looks around* Just in case there's someone here who hasn't heard yet...
The CW orders a pilot based on the Vampire Diaries
Vampire Diaries, from Alloy Entertainment (Gossip Girl), is based on books originally published in 1993—well before Stephenie Meyer's Twilight—and revolves around a young woman who's torn between two vampire brothers. The The brothers—one good, one evil—are battling for her soul and the souls of her pals, her family and the small town where they live.
The CW has reunited with Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer writer Kevin Williamson to executive-produce and write. Julie Plec (Kyle XY) is also on board to write and executive-produce.
Aaand, if you want to discuss that and more Vampire Diaries topics, go and join tvd_fans. :)

I was really hoping people would act more maturely about LJ Smith's opening herself to the public, but I guess not.
If you want to post responses she's given (as I know a ton of you have been emailing her, hell, if I could think of something worth writing I probably would too)go right on ahead! It's a big thing, you know! All I ask is that you please do so in a manner that is respectful to other members. If I receive complaints that someone is holding their responses over the heads of others, and making them feel lesser in an "Omg! LJane likes me teh BESTEST!!!1!" way, that's just freakin' uncalled for. And frankly, I'm apalled that it was done at all on here. You WILL get an automatic 2 week post suspension. I don't care who you are.
I'm also opening post status to anyone who joins, you don't have to be a member of NWCD to post here, just a fan.
Thanks!

windiain: (no subject)
Okay, given there have now been a couple of posts on the matter...
nightworld.net was suspended (no idea why), and looks like it's back up but the site seems to have been wiped in the process. We don't know any more than that at the moment, and we're waiting for more news from Cassie. But those in charge are aware of the matter and dealing with it.
As soon as we know something, it will get posted. In the meantime, Incanto will keep us up to date as she finds out info from Cassie over on the Devil's Playground Forums. The site might even be restored before that, so try checking back later.

lesleyx: Project for Lisa Jane Smith
Posted by Cassie
Please feel free to send this on to any Lisa Jane Smith fan or community you know about!
We at Night World: Circle Daybreak feel it's time for our voices to be heard by the publisher! We are starting an extensive project that we hope you will help with! It takes only a couple of minutes to participate. We want Ms. Smith's publishers to know how much we love and adore this extremely talented author and amazing woman. She really is absolutely incredible and we need to make sure both Simon and Schuster and Harper Collins know! If you can only send one letter, send it to Simon and Schuster!
We have a template of letters for both publishing companies. All we ask is you save it to a word document, print it, sign in and mail it. Please keep most of it intact but if you want to add personal notes, like maybe you lost the books and have had the worst time replacing them! If the letters are very close, then it makes more of an impact.
On the outside of the letters, please write: Author Inquiry: LJ Smith, Strange Fate, nightworld.net. This will show them how united we are in our cause. The nightworld.net reference is required for the simple reason we're the ones who started this project. It's our idea so please give us the credit! Also, make the envelopes stand out. Big envelopes, small envelopes, colored envelopes, etc.
The last thing we ask you to do is to ask all your LJS loving friends to participate as well. Put this URL anywhere you can think of where LJS fans gather. The more people who participate, the better chance we have of being heard.
When you visit SimonSays.com's LJS section, make sure to reference the nightworld.net site! If you belong to any other LJS communities, you can advertise them there as well but please tell Simon and Schuster that the Night World sent you there! We want to stand up and be counted!

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in regard to Lisa Jane Smith, one of my favorite authors. Thank you so much for publishing her in the first place and for taking the time to read my letter. Through your company, thousands of fans have discovered this incredible and talented writer.
I am a member of nightworld.net, one of 1000+ members. We get together online and discuss all aspects of her books. We are all desperately hoping for Strange Fate, and reprints of the earlier books.
Please reprint all the books published by S&S over the past 10 years - Forbidden Game, Dark Visions, and Night World as well as her newest book, Strange Fate. So many people have been waiting since 1998 for her newest book in the Nightworld series, Strange Fate, and they still stay loyal after all this time. I as well as other members of the Night World site believe that if Strange Fate is released, it would sell much better if Ms. Smith's books were all brought to public attention before the release of Strange Fate. Not to mention the sales of reprints which fans all over the world, new and old would run to buy. I personally would be very interested in buying reprints.
Many of my friends have come to love her work as much as I do, but because of the rarity of these books, I am often reluctant to lend them my copies. I have loved her books for years, and so have many others. If her books were reprinted, they are sure to attract many more fans and please all of the thousands that she already has.
Reprinting her books could be one of the best decisions your company makes.
Thank you,
Letter to Harper Collins (her original publisher) -- On the envelopes to HC, put Author Inquiry: LJ Smith, nightworld.net They don't really care about SF -- nor will they know what we're talking about.

Please reprint all the books published by HarperCollins in the past - Night of the Solstice, Heart of Valor, Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle. Night of the Solstice and Heart of Valor are especially hard to find and so many fans have never been able to read these wonderful stories. Vampire Diaries is still an incredibly loved series and ranks first for many fans out of all her novels.
