Stargon News The development of Stargon has been several months in hiatus. The town is still devoid of residents, but has had a few visitors. So far the city architects have laid down the foundation of the city's core, as well as completing commissioned buildings by our future wealthy residents. In the Portside District, several shops have been set up, though merchants are still checking their inventories. The temple of light is now open to the public, all are welcome to visit.

Happenings in Stargon: There was rumor of sparring in the streets of the Portside District. It seems two individuals were hunting each other down in the city streets.. for fun. Though they may have put each other through death several times, it seems they both managed to walk away with no hard feelings.

Stay tuned for future developments (they will come eventually)!!

Because I am totally, utterly female.. I thought it would be fine to inform you of my latest shopping conquest and the shops this week. Certainly, I stumble across the most useful and fascinating things in my journey, and grateful I am for it, but sometimes they are no match for the fine wares offered at shops in remote places such as a camp in Beoruna's Well. Alas, I know you are eager to hear more about my purchase! From the moment I saw these shoes, and boy do I love shoes, they had a pull on me. Time after time, I tried to resist! I must save up my gold coffers for a fine ship to sail myself home with. Something of that sort... But my will was weakened, as I had forgotten to slip on my Amulet of Will +4 that day. It was quite a splurge but well worth it. Now I can run circles around you in speeds not seen before, at least not in this land! Behold, the Boots of Speed, gifter of haste!

Welcome to Our Beautiful Home, Stargon. I just want to write a quick note to welcome anybody who reads this to join the community. This community is created based on a Neverwinter Nights (NWN) module I am building called The Land of Stargon. I created this place based on my character Shandra Saangdow, to serve as her past. She lives out her life in the world of NWN as a Fighter/Weapon Master.

First I'd like to talk a little about the game NWN. It is a roleplaying game for PCs based off of the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) rules. Well, to be more general and descriptive, it's a game where you take part in an adventure. Traditionally, in D&D games, there would be a dungeon master who would describe your encounters and plays the roles of the monsters as well as the world you are exploring. The players would be of a certain type, such as a wizard or a heroic fighter, of different races including humans, elves, halflings, gnomes, dwarves, etc. In NWN the official campaigns are set up and designed so that you don't need a dungeon master, but you can go online and join others in the quest to save Neverwinter. The game also gives all players capabilities to build their own worlds and campaigns, and allows you to play the role of dungeon master where you can spawn monsters to challenge your players. Your character grows through experience, and can be customized to your liking. The game is really flexible like that.

Hopefully you're here because you already have the game, but if you do not, well I would totally recommend it because it's just plain awesome. You don't have to know anything about D&D to play, and you don't have to be a programmer or know scripts to make modules. However, if you are those things, then you can take the game to a whole new level. I don't know how to explain it all, so let me refer you to the game's official website:

I guess I should tell you a little about Stargon, though it hasn't been formed fully in my mind yet.

It's a little isolated city with a very diverse landscape. Between the dangerous, razor-sharp mountains, and the uneasy sea lies Stargon, a small world as advanced as any other. Legend says that there used to be a great empire that spanned from mountains to mountains and was bordered by the endless sea to the south. It was a place with many great cities, each with a grand and glittering army. Eventually the leaders of each great city sought more power, and a great war took place. Everyone fought for their city, and in all manners of strategies. There were countless warriors and the greatest mages, all upholding the strongest loyalty to their lord. In the end, they tore the land apart, magic shook the land, prophets cursed the cities, until the great empire broke off into the sea, and tumbled into its stormy depths. The only thing left of that dramatic battle was the tiny isolated piece of land, nestled between mountain and sea.

The people often tell this tale to remind each other that it is far better to live in peace. Knowledge and harmony are stressed to them, and they have lived in peace from generation to generation. That's not to say that there is no struggle for power, but there are councils and upstanding, righteous fanatics who try to prevent any outbreaks of a major sort. Over the past couple years, however, trouble has been brewing. Some undesired power hungry nautical folk from Stargon have been hatching a plan to create a new empire. They want to build up a new empire in the lands to the north and their idea to fund this campaign of theirs is to mine the rich mountains in the northern border of Stargon.

There is much resistance to this not only because the people disagree with the interests of these renegades, but more importantly, the mountains are of a religious value. There is a great cave that citizens make pilgramage to, through forests and up winding paths, to the entrance which has a sparkling waterfall as its grand doors. It is their great temple of light, where they pay respects to the godess who blesses them with light and life. To gut out the cave's glittering walls to fund a plot of evil and conquest was against all they lived for. There was no way the citizens would allow anything to happen to the sacred land.

So the bandits wait, they make their business on the very distant sea routes, and turned a small uninhabitable, at least by the city's standards, island offshore of the mainland into their base of operations. Though they take no action against the city, they wait, and the tension builds...

There you have some history. It's a little much with the dramatics and all, but I figure it wouldn't be so much fun if they were simple, peaceful famers with no sense of adventure... I will talk more of the history of my character in her journal.
