Stakeholders were a number of local residents of Parys, a scenic town situated on the banks of the Vaal River in South Africa's Free State Province. Local residents were asked to share their water-related experiences at a workshop organized by a NorthWest University research group. It became clear from their stories that they had experienced severe stressful circumstances. They had suffered stress because of the health risks posed by polluted water and the frequent lapses in the town's water supply system. Dalcroze-inspired activities were used to facilitate this meeting. Data were collected through focus group interviews, open-ended individual interviews, photos, videos, and observations. All these data were consolidated in one heuristic unit in ATLAS.ti, a computerassisted qualitative data analysis software program. The codes were organized into categories and themes. Friese's (2014) notice, collect and think (NCT) method for computer-assisted qualitative data analysis was used. From the data analysis, five themes emerged related to the Dalcroze-inspired activities. It included: joyful experiences, which facilitated social interaction that made it possible for personal relationships to be transformed. Virtues arose from this transformation, and participants' experience was that the group engagement supported their well-being. We, therefore, argue that the Dalcroze approach can be used in communities in crisis to facilitate conflict resolution and transform relationships.

Different people have different conceptions of him. This discussion is based on the viewpoint that Kruger embodied the system of values in existence, also in South Africa, during the romanticism of the early nineteenth century. His philosophy of life was opposed to the ideas of the Enlightenment. More nuanced terms of expression and an exploration of certain future perspectives are put forward in order to create an understanding of Kruger and his times. _______________ 1 Gebaseer op 'n voordrag gelewer by geleentheid van 'n FAK-konferensie, "Kruger gister en vandag",

As a result of constant innovation and modernisation in the fields of engineering, natural science, management studies and environmental studies there has been a growing awareness of the intrinsic interaction between humankind and the environment. Humankind has become part of the environmental dynamics, to the extent that they are literally able to change ecosystems. Nowhere is the impact more evident than in the anthropogenic engagement with the hydrosphere – from the smallest pool of water to the earth’s atmosphere. Comprehensive infrastructure development in water and sanitation, the growing trend to seek additional resources in the form of groundwater, desalinated seawater, and recycled wastewater, as well as special attention being given to capturing and preserving rainwater, bear evidence of a timely response to climate change, population growth and rapid development in many water-stressed regions of the world. The purpose of the book is to provide a historical overview of the manner in which South Africa’s water resources have been governed from a time when the Union of South Africa was formed, in 1910, up to 2008, a time of a growing global awareness of the potential impact that climate change may have on water resources in a key region of southern Africa, notable for increasingly higher levels of aridity and more erratic rainfall patterns. This focus on the history of water affairs in South Africa makes it possible for scholars to comprehend the contemporary transitions made in the country’s water governance system since the establishment in 2014 of the Department of Water and Sanitation. The focus is on the Water–Energy–Food nexus, a strategy which holistically contemplates the governance and use of water from the perspective of the interconnection between water, energy and food as resources. Research has been based on transdisciplinary methods, complemented with the classical interpretive historical narrative methodology.

The first provides an overview of the progress made towards establishing the South African Water History Archival Repository (SAWHAR) at North-West University’s Vaal campus in Vanderbijlpark. Details are provided of the organisational structure and lines of communication established with key stakeholders, such as information scientists at the University of South Africa, the National Archives Repository in Pretoria and the Water Research Commission
(WRC).

The primary focus is on the history since the founding of Louis Trichardt in the year the South African War (1899-1902) broke out and the evolutionary transition of the settlement in the twentieth century up to 1999 - when the phase of transitional collaborative local governance came to an end.
