NYC Moot 2010 (original) (raw)

Sad to say, but it looks as if ROTK will NOT be showing at Radio City in October. In fact, it won't be there until 2013, if this post at the TORN message boards is to be believed:

I'm sure one of the first questions on everyone's lips will be: What about ROTK in NYC?

What I know is this: I believe they are planning these "Arena Tour" concerts as a lead up to NYC. I believe TTT will be shown in midwest cities (in 2012) , then ROTK would be the grand finale in NYC (and possibly other east coast cities) in 2013. Obviously, if that's the case, ROTK will not be showing in NYC in October.

:((((((((((

Hi, I've just found this comm. I've been ill and out of things, but I'm better and Gabi_fics and I are arriving on Thursday 7 Oct and staying til Sunday. We have TT concert tickets for the Friday, seated near Honeyandvinegar, Panmodal and Verangel

It would be really great to meet up with other mooters, for dinner before the Friday concert and/or brunch on the Saturday. Have any venues been decided? Please could someone post here with the details? Also my email is aliensouldream@googlemail.com so if you have contact numbers you are happy to pass on, please do.

I can't wait to see New York again, and all of you who are going and to experience the brilliance of LOTR in concert again. I have been looking forward to this since the last one!

Hugs to allxxx

A glowing review of Doug Adams's book "The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films."

http://nyunews.com/arts/2010/09/20/21pretent/

Excerpt: In the 416-page, lavishly illustrated tome — set to be released the same week that "The Two Towers" is being super-awesomely screened with a 300-piece orchestra at Radio City Music Hall — Adams will tell you everything you need to know about the theme of the Shire and its deliberately Celtic folk overtones. He'll tell you the difference, musically, between the Third Age (diatonic) and earlier eras (chromatic). He'll tell you how Shore composed — patiently and sensitively, "with this little tattered copy of the book that went every place with him."

Squeeee!!!! I'm so looking forward to getting the book and seeing TTT!!!

Belleferret proposed we all have dinner together Friday before the movie. How does that sound to everyone? I think it's an excellent idea.

Also, it occurs to me that Elijah's new movie, The Romantics, might still be playing in NYC when we are there. Would people want to go see it?

Any other events/tourist attractions/whatever you want to suggest?

Hi! *waves* TTT is coming up before we know it, so Belleferret and I thought a comm to get things organized would be good. She and Lavender Took will be coming to stay with me, and we'll be going into NYC on Thursday for the book signing at Barnes & Noble that Doug Adams and Howard Shore will be doing. That's at 5 p.m. Later that night, we'll be attending the Fellowship! The Musical performance. We'll be staying over Thursday and Friday nights and we have tickets for TTT on Friday evening.

So, what about everyone else? What are you plans, where are you staying?

I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone!
