Father’s Day gifts are all about making your dad feel seen, and one of the easiest ways to do that is to create a custom Lego minifigure in his image. Lego has an online minifigure factory that makes this fantastically simple to do: You can choose from dozens of facial expressions, hair types, hats, shirts, pants, and accessories, and add custom words and numbers to your minifig’s outfit. Since processing often takes just one business day, there’s still a good chance it will arrive in time for Father’s Day this weekend, depending on where you live and when you place your order (standard shipping takes between three and five business days, though if you’re cutting it close, you can always tease it in a card). Of course, fathers who like building with Lego or have a tradition of building with their kids are the model recipient. But I also think that any dad would appreciate how a personalized minifig is thoughtful but not overly serious.

Say your dad is obsessed with fishing or his high-school mascot was a duck; you can add cartoons of both to his minifigure’s shirt. You don’t have to pick just one “motif,” either — I was able to add over a dozen and could have kept going. There are scores of different icons to choose from that you can place and resize, including a pretzel, a tick, a pizza box, a pocket with a leaking pen, a squid, a treasure map, and a stethoscope. There are plenty of shirt and pants designs too, from basic hoodies and jeans to professional uniforms. Finally, you get to pick a three-dimensional accessory for him to hold, from a selection that includes everything from coffee mugs to a trophy to a pet cat or dog. Though if you don’t find the accessory you’re looking for, or you want to add more, Lego’s Pick a Brick section lets you order individual pieces too. (I like the red coffee cup and the balloon dog best.) One minifigure costs just $12, so if you want, you could affordably design a whole custom family for Dad to keep on his desk.
