About us
Youthline is a collection of organisations that work together to make sure young people are able to get the best support, when they need it. We work with young people, their familes and those supporting young people. Our organisations are made up of volunteer and paid staff members - and we have centres based across the country. We were proudly established in 1970 by a group of people who realised that there were not a lot of options for young people needing to access help and development services. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult asking for support. It can also be difficult working out who to contact for what. To make sure it's as easy as possible to use our services, and other services who work with young people, we make sure that we have good relationships across the country with other providers so that we can point you in the direction of local services.

- It was an absolute pleasure hosting Domino's support office team at our Owen’s Road centre recently. For over a decade Domino’s have been a valued partner of ours. Domino’s generous contributions through their registered charity, Minds & Meals, helps fund our national Helpline. Further to this, Domino’s Minds & Meals also provides Youthline with over 1000 pizza vouchers annually which helps support our events and youth development programmes across the country. We are incredibly grateful for Domino’s Minds & Meals enduring commitment to the mental wellbeing of the young people of Aotearoa. Ka pai Domino’s! #youthlinenz
- We are thrilled to share that our Principal Partner, ASB Bank, has won the Excellence in Social Purpose Marketing award at the 2024 YouTube NZ Marketing Awards! This isn’t just any win; it’s a celebration of our amazing partnership and the way we work together to support the mental health of our young people. Because of this partnership, ASB has helped raise awareness of our Helpline and expanded it overnight to be available 24/7. Yep, that means whenever rangatahi need someone to talk to, we’ve got their back, day or night. We couldn’t be more delighted that ASB’s efforts and good work has been recognised with another big award win. And let's not forget "Bagels by BENEE" - the 'world's most calming song' that's been making waves globally. That collaboration with BENEE has received global awards and recognition for its innovation and impact, but the ASB project team say this latest recognition here in Aotearoa is the one they are most proud of. Thank you ASB for your incredible mahi and support. We’re beyond proud to be in this together, making a difference for our rangatahi.
- Yesterday we were in Wellington on World Suicide Prevention Day for an important korero about 'Changing the Narrative on Suicide' and priorities for suicide prevention in New Zealand! #youthlinenz

240,000 That’s the number of calls and text messages Youthline receives from rangatahi youth in New Zealand every year. It’s a reflection of the mental health crisis affecting our young people. It’s for that reason I’m so proud of the work our team have been doing to: - raise awareness of Youthline’s services; - make that service available 24/7 so that young people have someone to call on day and night; and - create the world’s most calming song to give our rangatahi a tool to use when they’re feeling anxious: Bagels by BENEE. For me it’s never about awards, but I thought it would be nice to finally acknowledge as well, the recognition that work has received at so many shows around the world: The Best Awards, The Pressies, Cannes, Clios, AWARD, The One Show, Webby, Beacons, Pressies, BandT, Spikes Asia, Axis, D&AD and – this week - at the NZ Marketing Awards. Great work ASB Bank. This is really what it means to be one step ahead. - We’d like to give a massive shoutout to our Principal Partner ASB Bank for donating 10 laptops to our services team. These laptops will play a critical role in enabling us to assist rangatahi who reach out for help. Ngā mihi nui ASB for your unwavering support and continued commitment to our mahi! #asbbank #youthlinenz
- Ngā mihi nui to our partners Noel Leeming for hooking us up with a new dishwasher kindly donated by Panasonic New Zealand Ltd. We reached out for help when our old dishwasher gave up on us and they have both come to our rescue. This is the true Kiwi spirit, a spirit of support and aroha always! #noelleemingnz #panasonicnz
- Thank you to our friends at Meta for hosting us at Netsafe's 25th birthday. Congratulations Netsafe and thank you for the 25 years of helping to keep New Zealanders safe online. - Huge thanks and congratulations to Shan Wilson, from Simpson and Grierson, named as one of the most influential lawyers in Aotearoa in the 'changemaker' awards category! 👏
Congratulations to our Pro Bono Partner Shan Wilson who was recently named as one of the most influential lawyers in Aotearoa in NZ Lawyer's 'changemaker' awards category 👏👏 The announcement was hot on the heels of the launch of the fourth edition of Invested for Good, our annual Pro Bono Report 🤝 In this year's Report, we’re highlighting the work we’ve done to support our incredible community partners: Lads Without Labels, #Wingspan Trust, #MothersProject, #MonteCeciliaHousingTrust and #MauaoTrust. As the first law firm in Aotearoa to appoint a full-time Pro Bono Partner in 2020, we’re proud to see our commitment to pro bono grow over the years. In the last 12 months, as a firm we have invested 7,300 pro bono hours into supporting our community partners – averaging around 35 hours per lawyer. Shan Wilson says of this year's Report: “I’m tremendously proud of how our team has been able to upskill through pro bono work and how we’ve all collectively been able to support each other. “Pro bono work has opened up opportunities for more client contact at an earlier level of qualification, promoted development of problem solving skills and encouraged staff to learn new areas of law. “Most importantly, it provides our people with the chance to use their legal skills to support charities and individuals who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford legal advice.” Read more about the significance of pro bono to our firm, the special community partners we’ve been working with and why pro bono is so valuable to our lawyers when it comes to professional growth. https://lnkd.in/d_gZwPsQ #probono #simpsongrierson #investedforgood
