It shows how you can flip your classroom without fearing the lack of students' preparation. Instead of expecting all the students to do preparation tasks, give them a choice of what they want to do as their homework.

However, learning another language has various obstacles, such as language learning anxiety which hinders students' learning capabilities. There are many studies to attempt to identify the anxiety provoking factors (

English teachers are one of them. Often teachers overwhelm the students with vast amounts of information which the teachers desperately hope to share with them (Canagarajah 2006). However, how much information do the students actually wish to acquire? Not many of them are willing to accept all the information presented in front of them. If students are unwilling, it might be difficult to expect true learning. Therefore the student's willingness to learn would be crucial for their learning as well as the quality, not quantity, of the information. Accordingly, when people are working on something they like, they naturally put more effort and work hard (Dörnyei 2001; Ryan & Deci 2000; Vansteenkiste, Niemiec & Soenens 2006). The 20% Time Project originated from Google's management philosophy, which encourages the employees to spend 20% of their work time engaging their chosen pet project that their job description did not cover (Juliani 2015). As a result of the 20% Time Project at Google, some innovative products were created such as Gmail, AdSense, and Google News (Juliani 2015). This idea can be incorporated into education in order to reinforce intrinsic motivation, such as curiosity or enjoyment. In this study, the implementation of the 20% Time Project in an English class at a Japanese university was conducted following the examples of the classrooms in the United States, and the observation of students' responses are discussed as well as the application. Also, this study suggests possible modifications for the future implementation in the language classrooms.

It has been gaining the attention of educators who are struggling to keep their classrooms active and engaging. Although its theory makes sense to spend time on engaging activities during the class instead of passive lecturing, many teachers fear the lack of the students' preparation, resulting in being forced to have both lecture and activities in class within the limited time. In addition, although teachers believe that students would enjoy active participation in the class, there is a possibility that the students might prefer the traditional lecture style classroom after all. In this study, the responses to a flipped classroom model was surveyed with a questionnaire, and the model of the flipped classroom was analyzed from the students' points of view. As a consequence, although many students preferred the flipped classroom model, they encountered difficulties with the pre-writing quiz that they were supposed to take as the preparation for the class. Therefore, the responses suggest that careful preparation for the pre-class assignment is an essential part of a successful flipped classroom implementation.

Goals • Students understand the basic sounds in English. • Students actively analyze the appropriate sound and the articulation of the sounds. Description of the Activity Under the teacher's guidance, students research and analyze the English's individual sounds, working with groups of 2 or 3 students. Then, they make a presentation video using an iPad showing what their findings are and their explanation of how to make those sounds. Each group works on a different set of contrastive sounds, so that as a whole class there is a pronunciation dictionary.

Furthermore, the application of those ideas would be beneficial to SLA teaching. Often SLA is treated as a different subject separated from the
rest of the academic subjects taught in the educational system, and tends to be viewed as requiring a different sets of skills and tools to master. It might be true in some aspects of SLA, however, many of techniques which are effective in educational psychology field can be used in SLA as well. This paper examines the following ideas from educational psychology and explores how they can be applied to SLA: Interleave worked example solutions with problem-solving exercises, anchored learning, deep question, spaced learning over time, explanation effect, generation effect.
