The mini DVD+RW is a smaller (8 cm) version of the rewritable DVD+RW. Mini DVD+RW discs can be used in the same way as fullsize 12 cm DVD+RW discs to hold computer data, but their most common use was in DVD-based camcorders from around 2005 to the early 2010s.

A standard mini DVD+RW could hold 30 minutes of video.

An advantage of DVD+RW over DVD-R or DVD-RW was that the disc did not need to be ‘finalised’ in the camcorder before playing in an DVD player.

Many DVD camcorders could also use other types of DVD discs, such as mini DVD-R, mini DVD+R, mini DVD-RW and mini DVD-RAM.
