SyQuest EZFlyer (1996 - 1998) | Museum of Obsolete Media (original) (raw)
EZFlyer (or EZFlyer 230) was a hard-disk cartridge data storage format for IBM-compatible PCs and Macs introduced by SyQuest in 1996, replacing the EZ135 disk.
The 3.5-inch form factor cartridges were supplied ready formatted for PCs or Macs. They offered storage capacity of 230 MB, almost twice that of the EZ135, but the drive could also read and write to EZ135 disks. Available as an external drive, it was was less bulky than the EZ135 drive and offered connection to parallel ports or SCSI interfaces.
The EZFlyer was aimed at tasks such as desktop publishing, graphic design and multimedia, and because it was based on hard-disk technology it offered very fast transfer speeds.
SyQuest filed for bankruptcy in 1998.
