New here. Have always been a sci-fi fan and always liked Star Wars but became obsessed with the dark side mythos after playing Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). That led to buying KOTOR2 and I just can't get enough of it. So now I am "back tracking" so to speak to fill in all the historical holes. What resources are there in the realm of books/novels?

You know how in ESB the Emperor tells Vader to kill Luke and Vader's like, "he is only a boy"? The iorny of that just struck me...I mean, it didn't seem to bother him when he was taking out younglings left and right at the jedi temple ;)

I'm trying to read the prequel novels ((Jedi Apprentice and Clone Wars series, plus the others that take place before A new Hope)) in order, but some are taking so long to come that I just couldn't resist starting on Revenge of the Sith. I'll read it, and the other good books, again and again no doubt; this novel really good in my opinion. The introduction to part 2 of the ROTS novel struck me, and I'd like to share it: The dark is generous, and it is patient. It is the dark that seeds cruelty into justice, that drips contempt into compassion, that poisons love with grains of doubt. The dark can be patient, because the slightest drop of rain willcause those seeds to sprout. The rain will come, and the seeds will sprout, for the dark soil is thesoil in which they grow, and it is the clouds above them, and it waits behind the star that gives them light. The dark's patience is infinite. Eventually, even stars burn out.

[ mood \| thoughtful ] I'm glad people are actually joining this community; I had pretty much expected it to peter out and die rather quickly. That not being the case, I will work on a layout and the user info, and try to post more.Anyway, I read a lot of SW novels/comics and watch the movies reguarly. The themes and characters in the Star Wars universe really get to me, none more than Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.( this ended up being long, so I kindly put it behind a cut Collapse )

That not being the case, I will work on a layout and the user info, and try to post more.Anyway, I read a lot of SW novels/comics and watch the movies reguarly. After reading up on the guy and watching the Clone Wars cartoons, it seems that Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus really got the shaft in the movies. And so did general Grevious. Those two were so evil and badass and good at what they did in the EU, but in the movies they come off to me as goofy villians who never stand a chance. I mean, Dooku was one of the best jedi ever then became one of the most feared men in the galaxy then in ROTS he's killed right off the bat. I'd have liked to see Tyrannus kick some more ass and Grevious stomp a jedi or two, like that hairy fucker Oppo Rancisis. I've always despised that guy for some reason.Don't get me wrong, I love all of the movies and the corresponding storyline, but I do wish that the'd have added more depth to those characters.

Welcome! I have a feeling that this could be a great community. Just created it today, so I'm still looking for members and trying to make the layout and the user info page all spiffy. Even if not many people join, I'll at least have a place to post my dark side musings :DSo yeah, post away!
