What does everybody think of JC + THE VOIDZ single off the album Tyranny?! I think it's eerie and simply beautiful. I will be attending two of the Voidz shows this Novemeber! Anyone else going?
I recently saw The Strokes 2 weeks ago in Las Vegas for my 7th time and his vocals were the best they have ever been. Although the crowd was rough, I had a blast.
The Strokes frontman Julian is mourning the passing of his father John Casablancas, who has died aged 70.
John Casablancas passed away yesterday (July 20) in Rio de Janeiro following a battle with cancer, his executive assistant informed the The New York Times.
John Casablancas was a legendary figure in the modelling industry. He co-founded the Elite Model Management agency in Paris in 1972 and steered it towards annual bookings in excess of $100 million (£65 million) during his years in charge. After retiring from the agency in 2000, he retained an interest in the fashion industry, founding a modelling school and creating a model-scouting organisation called Star Search.
John Casablancas is often credited with "inventing" the supermodel and over the years he helped to shape the careers of numerous high-profile models including Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Heidi Klum and Claudia Schiffer.
John Casablancas is survived by his wife Aline, whom he married in 1993, and their three children John Jr, Fernando Augusta and Nina, as well as by his children from a previous marriage, Cecile and Julian.

I know LJ is pretty much a dead place these days but I thought I would post the new song by The Strokes from their forthcoming 5th album!
Its called One Way Trigger and is available as a free download on the band's official site
The first proper single from the currently untitled new album 'All The Time' is due to be released to the world soon, possibly next week.

Damn I've really not been feeling the LJ vibe for a while so I am really sorry for not keeping this comm up to date. Though I think a lot of people get their Strokes news from other sites like Twitter and Tumblr I still love LJ and will promise to do better in the future!
Just thought I let you guys know about the situation in regards to the Hard To Explain Forum. It has been down since the weekend as the domain accidentally expired, the admins are hoping to have it up again soon with a new name and I will post the link here
Things are a bit quiet in Strokesland right now though until the South American dates kick off in a couple of weeks. Still waiting on the full length version of Julian's Debical Advert song. Also doesn't look like they will be touring much after that as they want to go in the studio and work on the fifth record which sucks for those who didn't get to see them live this year but also means a new album sooner rather than later and frankly I don't think any of us could cope with another 5 year wait.
