Joe & I had an insane sleep-deprived weekend that consisted of an all day tag sale at my mom's house complete with trip to visit my father at the nursing home where he lives, an all day Memorial Day celebration complete with a trip to the beach with his family, many aborted attempts to have our before trip FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM MARATHON, an exchange of keys & money with the person who will be watching my cats & garden while I'm away, and two perfect loaves of homemade challah bread brushed with olive oil, basil & garlic.

It still seems kind of surrealistic that on Friday I'll be leaving for Europeland, but despite the fact that it doesn't seem entirely real, I'm still obscenely excited. Thursday night I plan to post pictures of my one bag and all of its contents. Suffice to say my back is going to be in some serious pain. But not really since my bag is awesome and has awesome pain reducing straps!

A few weeks ago I spent an evening taking pictures of Joe, because he'd won an award for an article he'd written. The organization that gave out the award used one of my pictures, but Yale didn't like any of them and instead, sent someone to take a bunch of shots. This is my picture (pg. 10 Pelzer Award). And this is the one that Yale used (on the right). I mean, they're both awful! It just seems like an shameful waste of time to veto one awful picture and replace with one just as awful. But congratulations Joe, you're the swellest.

I require all sorts of sleep, but I have a crapload of crap to do. Argh.
