Unfortunately, we haven't received any final drafts, nor has anyone claimed the fic up for grabs. On that basis, we think we'll have to abandon the Bang this year, and most likely next year, too. Interest has been dwindling for a while and, given the current state of the fandom and the lack of interest in xf_bigbang, it doesn't seem worth our while to organise and attempt to run this event. We'd like to thank you for your support over the years and we will try to bring back the Bang if people wish it to continue, but dropping the word limit, extending deadlines, and modifying the original format hasn't worked, so we've run out of ideas; answers on a postcard, please.

Again, thank you for your interest and support, and we apologise for having to cancel. We hope to see you all again at some point in the future. We want to believe.

First draft deadline day is upon us, folks. For the absolute final time this year. Promise.

You need to email your first draft along with a summary, warnings, and final title to xfbigbang@gmail.com before the end of the day. Tomorrow, all the titles and summaries will be posted - anonymously - for others to claim. They will then create something to accompany your work. Final drafts are due October 6.

Due to a lack of submissions, we've decided to extend the first draft deadline until the end of the month.

Submissions are now due on/before Friday, August 31st.

Two months to go until first drafts are due, folks.

How's your work coming along so far? Any problems or issues that we might be able to help you overcome?

How is it June already?! It feels like the writer sign-up post only went live a few days ago but apparently a month has passed since then. Tempus fugit.

Hopefully the sound of silence means that you're all busy with your fics/artwork and not sitting there with a blank piece of paper and tumbleweed blowing through your minds. If you are struggling or if you have advice on how to become unstuck, please post it here. All of you should - and please correct me if I'm wrong - have posting access, so if something is troubling you or if you think you can help other people, by all means post to the comm.
