How bizarre is this? I just got a call from a woman who is returning a pocketbook I lost in 1994! No money in it of course. A little time capsule of my youth...apparently there is my driver's license, an ID for my husband (then my boyfriend) and quote "little crayons." Why she would go to the trouble to find me now or why her husband (who found it while in college and threw it in a box of his stuff after not being able to locate me) kept it at all are mysteries I will never know.I also read about separated twins who accidentally married one another in England. Life is an unusual little nugget of coincidence and calamity. |
Happy Birthday Michael Brown! I don't know what I'm seeking in letting this be a public post. My inner 13 year old thinks perhaps he will read this and be pleased that a stranger might care enough about his musical contributions to remember his birthday and be pleased. I wonder at what level of fame people stop googling themselves? Do you think Bowie stays up late reading blog reviews of his albums? "Reclusive" "eccentric" musicians. Is there anything better? And since this is an open letter to Mr. Brown, might I also add I think you were the band. I wonder why you didn't want to sing more of the songs. Anyway, Happy Birthday wherever you are. Current Music: michael brown of course |
Happy Birthday to my favorite girly (who isn't a blood relative, but probably should be) xeluchaIt's difficult for me to relate how refreshing it was to meet her and become her friend. Did you ever meet someone and within ten minutes you know you'll be bosom buddies without peter scolari? I have to say it's only happened a few times in my life, but she is definitely one of them. She has made me pee myself with laughter (really). And she has been endlessly supportive. We could have met each other in twenty different ways before we did, but i'm glad we know each other now. I hate to admit it, but we probably get along so well because talking to each other is a lot like talking to alternate versions of ourselves. She's the naturally red headed version of me wearing the same Target maryjanes. Happy Birthday to my dear friend. |
I was tagged for the five songs meme awhile ago form fuzzybumblebeeso here they are...these are by no means absolute favorites, just what i've been listening to in the last few weeks:the Smiths-pretty girls make graves(sentimental adolescent favorite)the Beatles-i'm only sleeping(favorite non-george song)the virgin prunes-...the song that starts with a k...and starts off " if i die, i die"-i'm too lazy to get the album to check the spelling.(watching U2 on conan made me think about how much cooler a family member the virgin prunes had in it)the chameleons uk-mad jack(listening to the cd version, but wanting the bootleg copy on the back of a bootleg cassette of joy division i bought when i was 15)my husband's version of -little sadie( i love this murder ballad...."made a good run, little too slow, overtook me down in Baltimore") |

Today another trek to the chocolate hospital for a cast change and a dye test to see if Gid's hip is in fact in place. He had to be put under and was quite upset at all of the people poking him and prodding him. The good news is thathis hip does indeed appear to be in place. We are half way, only six more weeks of this! In an odd coincidence today is the one year anniversary of Gideon's homecoming. I am a totally different person than the one that faced this night a year ago. Tonight both babies are sleeping in their own cribs, peacefully. Last year i slept with both of them on my chest all night long because i couldn't be close enough to them, with the light on, barely sleeping an hour. Having these childrenhas given me the first real confidence i've ever had. Aside from all that though, i want to say how happy i am that our little miracle boy is still home with us.He has changed my entire view on life and possibility. I will never again count another human out because some doctor made an educated guess. |
