Neurological disorders tend to be chronic, life-long conditions. Connected to the central and peripheral nervous system, neurological disorders are one disease family. Although there is a huge variety of disorders and patient profiles – all of which have their own set of complications – there are many common symptoms to be addressed, such as pain, fatigue, cognitive challenges, dizziness, seizures and sleep disorders.
92% of those living with neurological disorders report feeling affected by stigma on account of the disorder they have.
Soaring figures highlight why it is time to act now: Neurological disorders have the highest prevalence, biggest disability and the greatest cost among non-communicable diseases (NCDs). They are also the fastest-growing cause of deaths among NCDs. More recently, we have seen a significant correlation between COVID-19 and neurological disorders.
The picture is striking: the investment in care and research does not match the increasing burden at all levels.

Finally, we hope the patient community will see the value of adding a bundled approach to the mix, as this will improve access to care, increase funding and enable more prevention.
