Season Four was a good season. What were some of your faves?
4x01 Extradition: British Columbia
After the heaviness with Yang, it's nice to see Shawn be challenged but with someone a little less psychotic and with less hostagey tendencies. Also, Cary Elwes! And also, brilliant insurance fraud plan...I'll have to remember it when I have a gazillion dollars and my own private islands (yes plural). Though then why would I need insurance fraud? Well I might if it's Cary Elwes doing my frauding.
4x04 He Dead
I just have this episode on here because I absolutely love the fact that Alice Clayton (the wonderful Christine Baranski sets the dogs on Shawn and Gus twice. Who is she, Mr. Burns? Is this just like a rich person thing?
4x03 High Noon-ish
James Brolin. Westerns. That's all you need to know to appreciate this episode. Well okay, and secret gold and James Roday in a cowboy's outfit JUST SAYIN'
4x04 The Devil's in the Details...and the Upstairs Bedroom
Okay, this episode was CRAZY. Youths are CRAZY. Exorcisms are CRAZY. But let this episode be a lesson to us all that murder confessions are totally protected in confessional confidentiality so long as you didn't do something that can be linked to something in the Bible.
4x05 Shawn Gets the Yips
Shawn is just brilliant in this episode, as is Juliet's idea of motivation (which we already got a glipse of in 2x02 American Duos): "If your heart rate drops under 150 you DIE"
4x06 Bollywood Homicide
Sendhil Ramamurthy is just attractive, okay? Even though the mystery was pretty obvious in my opinion, we also got to see Juliet be a badass. Also Shawn hugging Raj in front of the "No Touching" sign painted on the wall. Also the awesome Hindi version of the theme song
4x07 High Top Fade Out
Tony: That alumni article made it sound like you're awfully good at solving mysteries without a whole lot of evidence
Shawn: The less evidence, the better
Okay, it's a little weird that this season has, for the most part, been full of hits. But surely no one can argue the brilliance of this episode and of Dule Hill's beautiful voice. Or the fact that the key was Boys II Men! Speaking of which, THE THEME SONG AHHHH
Also, the first appearance of Woody!!!!!!! It's hard to imagine a time without him now.
4x09 Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark
What I loved about this episode that Shawn is the damsel in distress, but not entirely in distress. You also get to see Shawn be clever in a whole new way, and also his reliance on knowing that Lassie and Juliet are good enough detectives to find him. Team effort guys!
4x11 Thrill Seekers and Hell Raisers
Sarah Shahi!! In case you haven't noticed, a lot of my favorite episodes revolve around guest actors I like. In any case, Gus went paragliding and took down a killer at the same time! Okay, so he clung onto the killer so tight the killer passed out and Gus's helmet smashed into the killer's chin but officially, Gus muscled up his back and put him in a sleeper hold on purpose. Yes.
4x16 Mr. Yin Presents...
Okay so I haven't seen any Hitchcock films so maybe some references went over my head. But I do know that this episode is bananas. Pineapples. Whatever. Of course there's a Yin and he is crazier than Yang. I like how this episode really lured the audience into thinking that Mary was Yin, until RIP. And also too though, for a split second, McNab. I was almost freaking out. I'm happy Shawn was able to save both loves of his life (it would be pretty dark for either to die though, on top of Mary), the suspense was out of control. But obviously the killer moment was when Yin touches the picture of young Shawn and Yang. Seriously, WHAAAAAAAAAAT
This is sadly the end of the road for Shawn and Abigail but that's okay because it just paves the way for Shules!
