It will also attempt to identify the possibility of a consonance between freewill and determinism. In view of the aforementioned, the philosophical position of freewill and determinism will then be considered so as to articulate the challenges stirred by the debate.

Suicide, in most cases has lent itself to multidisciplinary considerations, although before now it had been largely scientific. This includes a combination of psychology, medicine, psychiatry, biomedicine, psychobiology, neurology, medical sociology and others. In most situations, religion, philosophy of religion and philosophy have not been given the rightful place in suicide consideration. This approach could be seen clearly as a negative oversight. The goal of this paper is to examine some common religious perceptions of suicide and consequently apply such in the quest for suicidology advocacy. The paper applied religious, philosophical, historical and sociological research methodologies. It is recommended that a clear understanding of some common religious perceptions of suicide would assist in formulating some panaceas for suicide reduction.

On the other hand, it is argued that man is not free and his actions are often predetermined. This sets off a sharp contradiction or paradox. The aim of this paper therefore, is to consider what freewill is, what determinism stands for, and examine the various philosophical positions taken with respect to the sharp debate. It will also attempt to identify the possibility of a consonance between freewill and determinism. In view of the aforementioned, the philosophical position of freewill and determinism will then be considered so as to articulate the challenges stirred by the debate.

This extreme position has led to a lasting conflict, which has pitched faith against reason and reason against faith. The attempt in this paper is to establish the truism in the claim: that there can be an enduring consonance between faith and reason. No doubt, the conflict and debate on the subject of faith and reason has taken the front burner in both religious and philosophical discusses. Some scholars have argued that reason has no role in religion or theological sphere, while others contest that all religious concerns and considerations must be exposed to empirical investigations, and, proven by the dynamics of our intellect or reason. This has led to two major conflicting divide. That is, the faith-only group and the reason-only group. This paper, therefore, seeks how faith and reason relate, with an attempt to examining how they complement or contradict each other. This is with the view of establishing an enduring synthesis between them. It is recommended that there is need for dialogue between faith and reason. In addition the church in Nigeria should apply the dynamics of reason to her expression of faith. It should embrace the dictum of "faith with works"

No doubt, the African continent has witnessed drastic socio-political transformation between the period 1960 to date. Ironically, Nigeria became an independent nation on October, 1 st 1960. It is worth noting that since independence, she has been confronted with myriad of sociopolitical challenges. Notable amongst these, is religious fanaticism. This, in recent times, is encapsulated in grave religious insurgency, manifested in the "Boko Haram" challenge. This paper therefore addresses the relationship between religious fanaticism and security, how they affect each other (positively or negatively). It also examined the present security challenge in Nigeria, and attempts to advance some panaceas in achieving true security. Thus articulating the benefits of security as genuine precursors for sustainable development of Nigeria. It is recommended among others, that the adherents of the different religions should embrace dialogue and tolerance. The government should also pursue the challenge posed by youth unemployment with the right vigour.
