Tool for easy calculation of field economics (original) (raw)

Calculate and compare the economics of different crops and crop rotations and estimate the consequences of changes in assumptions.

Tool for easy calculation of field economics

Problem

The tool “The economy in crops and crop rotations” can be used to get a take on what the economy looks like when growing different crops and under different conditions.

Solution

Using the tool “Economics of crops and crop rotations”, it's quick and easy to calculate the economics of arable farming. The tool can be used to estimate the economics of growing different crops and crop rotations under different conditions, including the creation of new crops. The tool can also be used to estimate the economics of drainage.

Description

In the tool, one can easily define conditions such as crop value, cover crops, animal manure, whether you are a grain buyer or seller, straw mulching, drying and storage as well as changing price conditions, yield level, changes in cultivation system etc. Among other things, you can add crops and include them in the calculation of economics for both individual crops and crop rotations. Another newly developed feature is graphical elements for crop composition. The structure of the program is optimised in terms of specifying assumptions that relate to the following conditions:

  1. Farm-specific conditions,
  2. Standard assumptions for nutrients,
  3. Creation of own crop,
  4. Setting up crop rotations, areas, yields and expected crop prices,
  5. Adjusting the level of subsidies, unit and capacity costs, and
  6. Calculation of time consumption for standard crops.
