Aim of the study was to collect information about game farming in Germany and to compare organic and conventional farms. Questionnaires from 163 game farmers were evaluated (21 % organic). Farmers kept mainly fallow deer (87 %) and roe deer (24 %). Organic farmers kept more fallow or roe deer per farm than conventional farmers, realised higher prizes for game meat and were more content with their game husbandry. Altogether, only few differences were found between farming systems because conventional farmers also kept deer extensively (e.g. pasture and roughage based).
