Changing to cow-calf system in dairy farms (original) (raw)
Telling, Morten (2022) Changing to cow-calf system in dairy farms. Den Grimme Ølling ApS.
Summary in the original language of the document
An increasing number of organic dairy farmers has gained interest in cow-calf contact systems over the last couple of years, where cow and calf stay together longer than the normal 24 hours, which is otherwise common practice, also in accordance to the legislation for organic farming. One reason behind this raising interest is the consumers' increased demand for higher animal welfare in animal farming.
At the same time more and more organic farmers want to actively participate - in continuous development and improvement of the organic way of production.
But how is it experienced to change to a cow-calf contact system? In this movie we will hear more about how two different farms have handled and experienced the process and transition to a cow-calf contact system.
The video is produced by Den Grimme Ølling Aps and is part of the international CORE Organic research project GrazyDaiSy and the Danish Organic RDD 4 research project KALVvedKO.
