Identifiée au début du XXe siècle au Brésil, puis aux Etats-Unis, l'anthracnose du lupin est une maladie occasionnant d'importantes pertes de rendement et limitant la culture du lupin dans les régions pluvieuses du monde entier. Elle a été signalée pour la première fois en Europe au début des années 80 et plus récemment en Australie et en Afrique du Sud.
