Dr. Mulk Raj Anand was usually regarded as the father of Indian English novel. His debut of novel... more Dr. Mulk Raj Anand was usually regarded as the father of Indian English novel. His debut of novel writing was begun with his masterpiece work Untouchable. This article aims to talk about the caste system as one of the major issues and its imagery throughout the day and the struggles of Bakha, a central character in the story and his agony over the caste system. Undoubtedly, the implications of caste system in the novel depicted the lower life style of Bakha and his denunciation of pleasures and desires due to it. The author also tried to find out the difficulties of 18 years old strong boy of one day from his Bloomsbury experiences of stream of consciousness novel. Bakha mostly concerned about his peer group of higher caste people and their life style but of no point his helplessness in enjoying life as them. Mulk Raj Anand called his protagonist Bakha as 'hero of tragedy' and also portrayed the tragedies of all the lower castes like suppressed, oppressed, repressed in the country due to the traditional custom of caste. Irrespective of the fact of his lower status, Bakha tried to become a babu or sahib or upper caste person to lead a happy life and to satisfy his schooling desire. All of these were outrage of Bakha's reactions as he received from other higher and middle class people.

In engineering college teaching English for specific purpose (ESP) like for qualifying courses like GRE, GMAT, SAT and IELTS to go for further academics and even joining MNCs through placement tests. English now become as the need of the hour to make engineering graduates employable along with core skills as we have a large pool of qualified manpower. It also talks about the necessity of teaching effective English to engineering graduates for filling up the gaps of skilled manpower to our nation needs.

Previously many approaches have been developed, such as language across curriculum, task based instruction, activity based communicating (ABC model) instruction, content based instruction and immersion programmes etc. In this paper I shall present a model for learning Vocabulary of English as Second Language Learner through his/her preferred content.

This article aims how to enhance the reading comprehension and vocabulary of the UG students (ESL... more This article aims how to enhance the reading comprehension and vocabulary of the UG students (ESL) using the prescribed English text under Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, Telangana state. In the recent years, the researchers have been focussed on reading skill as a strategy to enhance reading comprehension and vocabulary of the ESL students. In this context, metacognition reading technique could be the best way in learning new vocabulary of the target students. Use of this metacognition strategy helps he students " to think about their thinking "-before, during and after they read. In their study, the researchers have taught metacognitive strategies to the UG students in lieu of traditional teacher reading skill within their prescribed English textbooks. The students have been given the reading comprehension activities in parts from their English text book and which have resulted with higher note of improving not only their reading comprehension skills but also enriched vocabulary.
