Jane is clairvoyant, having visions that can happen as soon as moments after present time, or as far ahead as months in advance. She also has telepathic and telekinetic abilities, although the latter is fairly undeveloped. She can barely float a pencil, and is far from being able to levitate her own body.
H I S T O R Y ;
There was a couple in Boston. One was a Japanese woman who worked in a restaurant, the other an idealistic American writer. They fell in love, and when he was thirty-two and she was twenty-nine, Jane was born. Jane had always been a peculiar child, getting into scrapes at school, daydreaming during classes, begging to take Tae Kwan Do when all other girls her age were signing up for ballet (Her parents negotiated. Ballet for Tae Kwan Do, Gymnastics for Fencing, Cheerleading for Rifle team) and she lied frequently. Her grades were terrible, but she cheated whenever she had to to keep her parents from taking away her various lessons. Sometimes she had dreams about them lying dead in their own blood. Sometimes she'd dream she'd killed them herself, sometimes someone else, someone with a mask and a dark shadow that made her feel terrified (which was not normal as she was a very bold girl) ripped them apart before her eyes.When she was seventeen years old she came home to find her parents lying dead in the living room, the normally white carpet her mother kept so carefully clean stained so deeply red it was almost black. Terrified and alone, Jane was shocked when she was approached by representatives of a school in Canada, saying they were aware of her unique abilities, and they wanted to help her. It was either the school or a life of foster homes, so she chose to go with the Deviant University folks. Quickly, they helped her access her powers, the dreaming she was aware of, and the other things her mind could do, that she was unaware of. She soaked in the lessons, and worked with a therapist daily to get past the devastation of her family being killed. If she hadn't, she probably would have gone mad.When she was twenty-one, she heard whispers, the possibility that the killer who had slain her parents was still alive. She left the school then, confidant in her abilities as a fighter and as a mutant, and tracked him down. She didn't kill him, because values the school had taught were against killing, but he made things much worse for him, trapping him in his own mind, with all his victims. Instead of going to jail, he was locked away in an asylum. Permanently.Shortly after this, she returned to the school, and asked for a job. She was surprised to find that the old self-defense teacher had left, and was offered the position. She accepted, as she'd always excelled at the more physical aspects of the job.
P E R S O N A L I T Y ;
Jane is, despite her tragic past and morbid present, a rather friendly individual. She smiles often, and outside of classes is generally friendly and playful with students and teachers alike. She's easy to get along with, but when she is training by herself or teaching she can be drastically less approachable. She's serious about training the students to learn how to defend themselves with more than just their powers, and she's serious about honing her own abilities. She also gets frustrated easily when she doesn't make much progress, so watch out for that one too.
