Two notable changes were made for this production.
- "Home Again" was moved from the end of Act One to the opening of Act Two.
- "Where Do I Go From Here?" — a song for Marie that had been cut during the pre-Broadway tryout — was added to Act Two, Scene 6. During the pre-Broadway tryout, it had been in Act One. By the time of the Broadway opening, it had been replaced by "Marie's Law."
Another notable aspect of the production was that the title role was played by Sorrell Booke, who had been the understudy for the role for most of the Broadway run but had never gotten to go on.
