Dryad.. Finally, we have Dryad, the Life Elemental. I really like her initial design in SoM, so I didn't want to change her all that much. So, she is still her shrub/tree self. Coloring wise...meh...I kinda rushed her, so I think she suffers from that, but otherwise, I think she turned out pretty nice.That's all for the Elementals...kinda can't believe I made it through all eight. Shade Here is Shade, the Elemental of Darkness! I really think he turned fantastic, similar to Gnome, in that the image in my head basically turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I flirted with changing his mini-arms to tendrils, but changed it back to arms...for the better I think!Til next week!Eric (Comment on this) |

Salamando Here is Salamando, the Fire Elemental. This was one those drawings where I had the perfect look in my head, but just couldn't translate it to paper. I went through at least three penciled/inked Salamandos before finally coming up with the pose you see above...I think when all is said and done with the 8 Elementals I am going to post my sketches and concepts. Sylphid Sylphid is actually one of, if not my favorite elemental. I think he looks awesome, despite really being a genie. Plus, I like his casting graphic, where he rolls around and huffs and puffs and boom...'Thunderbolt'...ahh awesome.Til next week!Eric (Comment on this) |

Gnome... Hi folks! Undine seemed to be a hit, so I figured I'd keep on truckin! Here is Gnome, arguably the most powerful Elemental in the game (magic damage wise). Mike posted a comment on Undine's page about having people in the community drawing Secret of Mana artwork. I think this is an awesome idea, and wholeheartedly encourage it! It can be any art, not necessarily the elementals like I am doing. Gau... Alrighty, here is the completed Gau that I hinted at last post. I think it turned out better than the Setzer one, but Gau has so little of a backstory that it was hard to come up with things to put into the background, as you can tell by the lower right background being just leaves. I thought of using 'Dried Meat', but thought it would just look like a piece of bacon, and deemed it wasn't really all that appealing. Also, I don't really want to keep doing silhouettes in these, but so far I am two for two. The black on the bottom of the rock is also something I am not a huge fan of, but meh, I'll deal.OH! If anyone can tell me the name of that little creature Gau is trying to catch, that would be awesome. I know they are in the game, and you fight them in the World of Ruin. They look like mice with huge tails? Anyone? Prolly be another three weeks for the next one... :)Eric (Comment on this) |

Setzer Art rejects.. Here is what was ultimately cut out of the Setzer Artwork I posted the other day. We have:A: My first rendition of the BlackJack. I got all nice and colored before I realized it looked stupid. I think it looks like a cross between a flying turkey and the ship from Futurama. Thankfully, I ditched and just drew from an image I found online.B. This is the Falcon. My original sketches had the Falcon up close and directly behind Setzer, so it would sort of be the main backdrop. But it was just too big, and I couldn't get the right detailing to show, without it ultimately dwarfing Setzer. So, it got cut, and I am glad too, I wasn't really a big fan of the art anyways.C. This is Setzer swinging with Celes that was to be on the left side where the stacks of gold now are. I like the art (taken from a Spider-Man action shot), but just couldn't get every thing to fit with the main Setzer, it got the axe. And oh, how I tried to get it to fit..I basically flipped everything in the picture to try and get this to fit, to no avail.D. Some rejected dice. Thought they looked cool at first, then realized they looked stupid. So there you have it. My next character collage is underway! Back Into the Swing of Things... Alrighty, here was the drawing I was mentioning in my previous post. All told, this took me about three weeks total. I drew it, colored it, and basically did all of it from work, so days could go by before I could get to it. That left side of Setzer though...errrgh...didn't turn out quite like I envisioned, and in fact, I had to scrap a pic of Setzer swinging on a rope carrying Celes/Maria in his arms because I couldn't get it to fit properly. So, stacks of gold were used. And, my initial drawing of the BlackJack was just awful, because I couldn't remember how it looked, so I had to use the Internets to get a good idea of what I was drawing. Now that I am thinking about it...I'll try to post the unused drawings in a bit..I have in mind three other sort of collages like this for other characters, and I plan on drawing at least those three...but they may take me a bit. I won't give away who the three characters are though (I have two of them already drawn).Okay that's it...hopefully some other folks get the 'Creative Spirit' and draw some more!Eric (3 Comments |Comment on this) |

LOCKE COLE ! THATS treasure hunter dicks! i love how this came out. i really really do the chucks was a nod to the original drawing i did years ago. the orange bandanna just complimented the color scheme. i just love his awesome jacket with the RETURNERS patch.... i like that even though he is their covert operative that he would still broadcast his alliance like that. Locke game play wise ... well SUCKS ... flat out. there is damn near NOTHING worth stealing in this game. and hios attack wasnt very good and he could NOT take a hit ... but he was fast .... not shadow fast ... BUT IT DIDNT MATTER TO ME EVER! put a ganji glove and offering on him .... and teach him ASSLOADS of magic (mainly my healer) and stick him at the front of my party,i loved his story .... he builds well. the whole ..."ill protect you terra" then "ill protect you celes" then you learn about rachel and its amazinG! .... he is such a tortured character but through that he is also the bright shining character making jokes and crackwise the whole game. i love the way him and sabin play off each other. both of them have that I LOVE LIFE mentality ... i dig that.he is easily the hardest charcter to get the world of ruin .....(if you arent prepared the phoenix cave is PURE EVIL) Locke will forveer be up there on my favorite videogame characters of all time list .... especially favorite RPG characters.Next up ... SETZER! Gambler and King of the Skies they shpouldve just given him a cajun accent seriously. hahha i wish i had done this for all my characters ... i mean liek an action shot instead of just the stoic character profile that i did.essentially i just drew a gambit pic and then changed it up. but i took nods from lots of places ... obviously i started with a gambity look.and also i used the SASH that he wears in Kingdom Hearts 2 (BEST CAMEO EVER) but the most subtle is that i colored his pants like han solo .... because thats what he is to me .... if gambit was less stupid and merged with han solo. thats Setzer!setzer fucking rules. you know it. i know it. we all know it ..... too bad he sucks. like seriously ..... slots is not the est ability out there. and coin toss doesnt help you until kefkas tower when you finally can waste all that money. i always loved his story .... from where you get him ... as he steals himself a bride .... till you find him in the world of ruin drinking away his sorrows.... till you give him back his wings. sucks .... i love him so much but i just never could find a place for him on my team ....
