I am currently working as a senior postdoc researcher at the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning group, Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford [2022]. I have served as fulltime Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Global Health Infectious Disease Research, College of Public Health, University of South Florida [2021-2022]. I have served as Research Fellow/scientific software engineer at the Brunel University London, College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences Department of Computer Science in the area of Modeling & Simulation [2019-2021]. I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Computing, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology, (Pakistan); and the founding Director of the Center for Research in Modeling & Simulation (CRIMSON) [2015-2019].
Earned Doctoral degree in Software & Computer Systems at School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), KTH-Royal Institute of Technology Sweden in 2013; Earned Master’s degree in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems at School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), KTH, Sweden in 2007
• Specialized in in Python, Java, R, CUDA, and other technologies such as MPI for parallel computing. Skilled in using OpenAI API and LLMs for AI applications, and experienced with differentiable programming and algorithms.
• Extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), including specializations in PyTorch, Graph Neural Networks, and Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL).
• Proficient in Geospatial data science & analysis, with experience in using Pandas, GeoPandas, PostGreSQL, QGiS, Plotly, Folium, Bokeh OSM, and D3D for data analysis and visualization. Familiar with methodologies for synthesizing realistic synthetic populations and calibrating large-scale models.
• Experienced in building large learning models, multi-agent systems, and utilizing probabilistic programming in AI. Strong background in modern software engineering practices, scientific software development, and development of multiscale geospatial simulation APIs and applications. Skilled in agent-based simulations, digital twin technologies, and high-performance computing applications.
• Expertise in modeling & simulation, agent-based modeling (ABM), system dynamics, discrete event simulation, and complex systems modelling. Proficient in using simulation tools such as AnyLogic, Arena, and developing efficient modeling languages for large-scale simulations. Extensive experience in Operation research and Optimization problem solving.
• Experienced in leveraging HPC for parallelization and efficiency, including the use of Supercomputing clusters (ARC, Blade, Eagle), cloud infrastructures like AWS and Azure for scalable computing resources.
