I work with a company in Chicago called Transcend Innovation Group. We are the makers of CareerNoodle.com, a new website where kids can go online and explore careers and educational opportunities. In addition to professionals talking about their careers, we are interested in interviewing students about the majors and colleges. The video interview will take around 30 minutes and you will be compensated with a $25 giftcard to Starbucks or Borders. We will be in the Illini Union on June 18th all day doing these interviews. Please email elizabeth@transcendinnovation.com (which is me) if you are interested. We have plenty of times open. Visit www.transcendinnovation.com/profiles for more information. Feel free to copy this invitation to any CU people you know who may be interested. Please note: do not randomly show up looking for us on that date. This is by appointment only.(also posted to the Chambana and UIUC groups) |

Ok, now that gas has topped $4 a gallon, how are you (especially those of you that live outside of C-U) dealing with it? Are you driving less? Taking the bus? Bumming rides from friends?Have you reconsidered your schedule or classes at Parkland because of rising gas prices? Maybe you decided not to take summer classes, or are working on rearranging your fall schedule so you have to come to Parkland fewer days each week. Hey, if you schedule your classes with your friends, you can share a ride AND notes! If rising gas prices have affected you, I'd like to know! I'm writing an article for the Prospectus on how increasing fuel costs are changing the way Parkland students work, learn, and live, and I'd like to make your voices heard. On the off chance that anyone still actually reads this community and you'd be interested in being quoted in my article, comment here or email me at bvoigt(at)stu(dot)parkland(dot)edu. Thanks everyone! Also, this is just for my own idle curiosity: Do you like the auto-flush toilets? Auto-flush? You mean auto-splash! Ew! They flush too soon, so it still wastes water Where's the auto-door-opener? What about the sensor-controlled sinks? Again, the germophobe in me is pleased. How much to I have to wave around to get water to come out? Sheesh. Why are there puddles everywhere? But I still have to touch the doors! Have you noticed the air freshener? There's an air freshener? Do you think the bathrooms look better now? If they got cleaned once in a while, maybe I'm still using the old bathrooms from when the college was built As long as there's somewhere for me to go, I'm good |
