Performance of conjoint analysis was evaluated with respect to its use as a tool for the estimation of the dimensionality of individual preferences. The literature on behavioral decision making was examined and used as a basis to develop hypotheses regarding expected performance differences between conjoint data collection tasks under conditions of increasing task complexity.

The manner in which researchers account for missing data can significantly affect the quality of the analysis, even when the amount of missing data is relatively small. Though the problem of how to analyze data sets when observations are missing is a pervasive one, coverage of how to control for missing data is sparse in marketing research texts (Aaker and Day 1986; Green and Tull 1978; Lehmann 1985; Tull and Hawkins 1983). The author of Analysis of Experiments with Missing Data is, as the title implies, concerned with missing data in data sets collected via experimental design. Use of experimental design procedures in marketing has drawn increasing interest, in part because of the popularity of research using conjoint analysis and other techniques involving experimental design in data collection. However, most introductory experimental design texts devote little more discussion to the problem of missing data than is found in marketing research texts. For example, two popular design texts, those of Winer (1973) and Neter, Wasserman, and Kutner (1985), each have fewer than three pages on missing data. Dodge approaches the problem by presenting methods for analyzing data sets from designed experiments with missing data. The treatment is theoretical, with examples and computer programs included for each method presented. The text consists of nine chapters, the first four serving as an introductory foundation for Chapters 5 through 9. The latter chapters are the core of the text and cover five approaches for controlling for missing data in different designed experiments. The outline of the text follows.

The main aim of this research is to increase understanding of business student’s attitudes toward the social obligation of marketers. Also, the research aims to review and analyze whether, how and to what extent marketing has addressed sustainability. Our focus is limited to marketing, as it is the central discipline of business that can play a significant role in the future of the sustainable business and society. But, marketing has often faced criticism, particularly during the twentieth century, being responsible for the consumer society and pushing hedonistic and unsustainable lifestyles. Therefore, next generation marketers need appropriate education and training to be able to translate the concept of sustainable development into marketing strategies. By designing and implementing sustainable strategies, they could create competitive edge in business, develop innovative business opportunities, and promote behavior change in society at large to enhance consumer well-being while simultaneously protecting the planet for future generations. The specific goal of this study is to investigate how business students perceive the principles of sustainability, and how they translate their social and environmental awareness into sustainable practice.Justification of that business student focus is twofold. First, they are future managers and decision makers, so it seems pertinent to analyze their values, attitudes, and behaviors regarding sustainability. Second, educational institutions such as business schools or universities need a more clear understanding of the demographic and psychological profile of students in order to be able to determine the components of an education for sustainability. Moreover, marketing educators can make use of such student-based studies to develop successful projects, which equip students with values, awareness and skills to both live and work sustainably. To start with, secondary research was performed and presented in the literature review: The first part describes the evolution of marketing and explains further how marketing seeks to embrace sustainability. The second part of the literature review discusses the process of consumption, consumer behavior and behavioral change from the sustainability perspective. As a result, this section underlines the basic information related to the sustainable marketing approach, which is expedient for the analysis of the research questions. The primary research was performed with the help of self-administered questionnaires from a total sample of 100 undergraduate and graduate students in their final years of business education attending a marketing course at a German business school (Nurtingen-Geislingen University [NGU]).Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis revealed a general consciousness of sustainability among students. Marketing was found to have the ability to make business and society more sustainable. Materialistic values had a negative impact on sustainable attitudes and behaviors. However, knowledge about sustainability could influence the attitudes and behaviors positively. Also, the results indicated that perceived self-efficacy could reinforce pro-sustainability behavior (PSB) i.e. it could motivate individuals to behave in a more sustainable manner. Finally, no significant relationships were found between demographic variables and sustainability attitudes or PSBs.In conclusion, the collected data is compared to the data from secondary research and the research questions are discussed. Finally, limitations and some suggestions for future research are presented.

The common cold and related complications lead the list of causes of acute morbidity during the cold weather. The medical expense resulting from these ailments is a substantial part of the cost of health care, which is in urgent need of con tainment. Man, migrating from the warm climates of his origin, quickly learned how to pro tect himself against the cold but is still very much remiss in compensating for the low hu midity created by indoor heating. A viral etiologyforthe common cold has been established, but efforts to produce an effective vaccine have failed except in special circumstances. It has been shown, however, that the virus is destroyed in the presence of adequate humidifi cation. Furthermore, maintenance of proper indoor humidity will not only improve health but will also act to make more acceptable the 65° F. limit to indoor heating newly mandated by law as an energy conservation measure. A graphic representation and pertinent relative humidity tables are used to develop the subject.

Mail questionnaires are one commonly used method to survey user preferences. Research methods which increase response rates and quality of mail surveys can help result in the design of products that more accurately reflect market needs. This study examines the effect of a nominal monetary gift and different contacting approaches on mail survey response rates among a population of engineers. The study found that the inclusion of a nominal monetary gift had a dramatic effect on survey response rates among engineers. Precontact with targeted firms was also found to increase survey response rates. Additionally, this research found differences in the response rates between direct precontact of subjects in target firms versus indirect contact of engineers who were referred as CAD experts in @eir firms. These referrals were found more likely to answer difficult survey questions and much more likely to volunteer to participate in follow-up qualitative research. Identification of this g m p of qualiied referrals may be useful for design teams working on new, technologically advanced products.

They involve partnerships between producers, processors, distributors, retailers, and food service operators who share environmental, economic, and/or social values. We developed case studies and interviewed key informants to analyze the impacts of access to capital, regulations, infrastructure, and business acumen on the success of VBSCs. Communicating the benefits of VBSCs’ products to customers, as well as to the VBSC partners, was instrumental to the success of the VBSCs in our case studies. However, our key informants emphasized that additional communications are needed to develop markets for VBSCs’ products. Scale-appropriate infrastructure is also required, but funders are not convinced that these investments are secure. Successful VBSCs operate with economies of scale to broaden demand for their products while also generating f...
