1.) Where did you ring in 2006?
At Dave and Adria's, watching Robot Chicken and drinking margaritas, dancing with queenkaliki, and chatting with some SLC alums. Eventually fell asleep on the couch next to thefallen29 because I had been working all day and then had to walk over a mile in the slush to get home because the buses had stopped running... yea, it was special like that. Whatever happened to that Brazilian guy who wouldn't leave me alone? ;-)
2.) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Single but blessed with one particularly awesome friend.
3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Most of this year, actually... summer vacation was only about a month.
4.) How did you earn your keep?
Panty folding robot. With some help from the parental robots.
5.) Did you have to go to the hospital?
Nope.
6.) Did you encounter the police?
A few days after I moved to my current place, a bored Fairfield cop pulled me over for "driving erratically" and made me do a field sobriety test... I was lost and took a wrong turn, and pulled a few sketchy maneuvers as I frantically tried to find my way back onto Route 1 in the right direction.
7.) Where did you go on vacation?
Conventions were my vacation - went to Ohio for Origins, Virginia for Nonclave, and New Jersey (woo hoo) for Salon Con. I suppose I could probably call Black Sun a vacation as well...
8.) What did you purchase that was over $500?
Oh man, I don't even remember... I ordered over $500 of Lip Service stuff that still has not come because they suck.
9.) Did you know anybody who got married?
Bryna, my old crush from home.
10.) Do you know anybody who passed away?
Not this year.
11.) Have you run into anybody you graduated high school with?
I think some of them may have added me on Facebook... and recently my former best friend from elementary school found me on there as well. (There's a really funny story involved, I'll explain later.)
12.) Did you move anywhere?
From SLC to the craphole in Bridgeport, and from there to my current place.
13.) What sporting events did you go to?
I watched some people hit each other with boffer weapons, and some people getting tossed around at the club.
14.) What concerts did you go to?
The Pogues on St. Patrick's Day weekend, Gogol Bordello, Dropkick Murphys, Rasputina, Black Sun (only the 2nd night though), Hanzel und Gretyl.
15.) Are you registered to vote?
Yea, I registered in CT on the last possible day before the election.
16.) If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 7?
Yep, despite getting tossed around between two polling places because they got my address wrong.
17.) Where do you live now?
In a duplex in Fairfield - it's a nice place and easy to get to stuff from, and even though the roommate situation is kinda meh, it's worlds better than the last place.
18.) Describe your birthday.
I was selling stuff at Salon Con, and cool people brought me muffin-cake. Also met some more new cool people, and bought myself some nifty jewelry.
19.) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006?
Had a crazy-fun social life outside of school, and met plenty of neat people that way... I used to think that once I got out of college, I would not have the chance to meet people, or build friendships, or date, and boy oh boy was I wrong...
20.) What is one thing you regretted this year?
Not buying any cookies today - a cup of tea is very lacking without something to dunk in it.
21.) What's something you learned about yourself?
When push comes to shove, I can be very resilient... when I resist the urge to back away and cry and hide behind someone else. Oh ya, and that I kick ass at this fashion design thing. :-)
22.) Any new additions to your family?
My cousin's son, Nathanael, was born... and my circle of friends is ever widening.
23.) What was your best month?
July had the best ups but some of the worse downs, October was pretty kickass.
24.) What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by?
V for Vendetta, the V/Phantom fan crossover, steampunk getting popular, MySpace, Combichrist, "Our Corps," Team Jeffrey, "I'm in ur fridge eatin ur foodz," Borat (and Ali G and Bruno, of course), and Robot Chicken: "Now you get your seven-foot-tall asthmatic ass back here before I tell everyone what a whiny little bitch you were about Padamame, or Pandabear, or whatever her name was... Oh jeez, guys, he's crying!"
25.) How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (excellent)?
Oh god... It's been crazy, but I would have to say about an 8 or 9, based on things I've achieved, learned, and had fun with.
