George Daniel found his forever!
The 1975 drummer's engagement to pop star Charli XCX was announced on Instagram in November 2023.
The exciting news comes two years after the British musicians first connected in 2021 while working on the single “Spinning.” While it's unclear when exactly the couple's creative partnership turned romantic, Charli XCX confirmed their relationship on Instagram in May 2022.
The "Unlock It" singer hinted at a future with the indie-pop drummer in early 2023 when the two released the single “Welcome to My Island (Remix).” In the song, she sings, "It was love at first sight from the moment we kissed / I want a white dress, country side house, and kids.”
Now, Daniel and Charli XCX are "for life," the "Boom Clap" singer wrote on Instagram, confirming their engagement with a cheeky caption. The public announcement came one day after she posted a photo of her engagement ring on her private Instagram.
Here's what to know about Charli XCX's fiancé, George Daniel.

Daniel is a founding member of The 1975, the English pop-rock band that originated in Manchester during his early high school years in 2002. When he joined the group, he replaced then-drummer Matty Healy, who had just become the lead singer.
Since then, Daniel and the other 1975 members — bassist Ross MacDonald, guitarist Adam Hann and frontman Healy — have seen success with hits including "Chocolate," their breakthrough hit and most successful single after its 2013 release.
In addition to topping charts and racking up awards over the span of their five studio albums to date, the English alternative band has collaborated with some of music's biggest names, including Grammy-winning producer Jack Antonoff and 12-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift.
He studied music technology in college

Daniel said he grew up in a musical household, citing Fleetwood Mac as his earliest music memory because it's what they listened to when he was growing up.
"It was the first thing that really stirred me," Daniel told Coup de Main in a 2016 interview.
Daniel started playing drums in school and took music tech courses, then went on to pursue music production in college at age 16.
While enrolled, he and his band used the accessible studios to work on their music, even using a few of their demos as his coursework. After some time, he left college to focus on The 1975.
"You can be taught the basics about how the different technical elements work... but I think you only really learn about what is the composition of a production when you leave any education," he told the outlet.

The 1975 aside, Daniel has musically collaborated with Charli XCX on several of her tracks. Most recently, he was among the co-producers/songwriters on her song with Sam Smith, “In the City.”
Daniel also produced various songs on the pop star's 2022 album Crash; they teamed up for the song “Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)” off the soundtrack for the 2022 A24 horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies and the early 2023 remix of Caroline Polachek’s “Welcome to My Island."
In a May 2024 interview with Rolling Stone U.K., Charli XCX joked that she is "such a bitch" when she and Daniel work together.
“We want to impress each other, and we think we’re both really good, but I’m actually such a bitch in the studio with George,” she said. “Because we’re obviously so close, you lose everything in terms of the normal studio boundaries. We flow really well, and he leaves a lot of space for people to breathe and be them and do their process.”

Charli XCX has previously opened up about how her relationship with Daniel has guided her music and inspired her creative process as an artist.
“Now that I’m in a relationship with another musician he’s influenced me a lot with his process and how he and his band work,” she told The Sun in a May 2023 interview. “It’s really different to how I work and that has definitely influenced me and my process."
She continued, "I used to be very, ‘Quick, quick, quick, album a month, let’s go.’ Now I’m like, ‘Oh, maybe it’s cool to take some time and live in the music that you create.’ My process is definitely evolving.”
