Jack Antonoff's Band Bleachers Returns with Infectious, New Single 'Modern Girl' (original) (raw)
From winning the Grammy for producer of the year to getting married, Jack Antonoff has had a big year — and it’s about to get even bigger.
On Wednesday, Antonoff’s indie rock band Bleachers returned with the first single from their upcoming album, “Modern Girl.”
Opening to saxophones and culminating into an infectious chorus, it’s the kind of classic pop-rock song with a hint of Springsteen swagger that makes you want to dance.

The new track arrived along with a music video, which sees the six-piece band performing the song together in a studio. (They're also kicking around a tomato in a very New Jersey move, as a nod to Antonoff's home state.) It’s a feel-good clip, as just about every member of the "Rollercoaster" group crowds around microphones to harmonize together, while Antonoff, 39, gleefully moves about the space.
“All the modern girls / Shakin' their ass tonight / Love on a wire / Who’s looking for a fight / All the modern boys / Are going out tonight / Change my meds, change the flight,” Antonoff buoyantly sings on the chorus of the ‘80s-inspired song.
“Modern Girl” is the first single off the band’s fourth studio album, which is currently unnamed and without a release date. It marks their first solo release as a band since their last album, 2021’s Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night.

Since then, the band’s frontman, who has built a reputation of one of the most popular producers in indie and pop music, has collaborated with the likes of Clairo, Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Taylor Swift, among many others.
Most recently, he produced Maren Morris’ single "Get The Hell Out of Here,” which dropped last week.

Swift — whom he worked with on her 2022 album Midnights and recent re-recordings, including Speak Now (Taylor's Version) — even gave him a shout out while accepting the Moon Person award for song of the year at the 2023 MTV VMAs for “Anti-Hero.”
“He's so talented it's incomprehensible,” the super star said. “I'm so lucky I've been making music with him since we worked on an album called 1989. We'll continue working together til' 2089."
In August, the Grammy winner tied the knot with actress Margaret Qualley. It was a star-studded affair in Antonoff’s native New Jersey and was attended by famous friends including Del Rey, Swift, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz and Cara Delevingne.
